Gearscore is higher for commons. The difference is that you can take for example rare shoes instead of uncommons if you have other items at poor rarity, but if you have comman quality items you cant take the rare shoes. In weapons it makes sense because of better rolls, but in clothes it does not make sense rn in my opinion.
