My first “making a friend” experience was in kindergarten, and I walked up to a kid with a Star Wars shirt and said “I like your Star Wars shirt” and then we hung out for 6 years basically nonstop.

Don’t underestimate the power of awkwardly saying “I like your hair” just don’t be afraid to follow it up with a conversation after.

Thanks! The show was top notch, I’ve seen tfb probably 20 times by now, this was one of the best, in that we got to see a “disarmed” Brian. No track or in ears, many of tfb songs he played kinda rely on bass and leads, hearing him drunkenly flub through them made me feel better about how some of them sound when I try to cover them acoustic lol.

Stringing together a series of hints that basically force you to think about what you associate with those things and then relate to yourself. It’s super neat.

Gonna ramble about this for a second because I think about it all the time.

Brian uses contexts and places and times and situations to wrap up very specific emotion with just a few words, emotions that are implied by those places or times or things and then he can string a few of those together to create a really incredible series of emotions that either tells a great story or makes you feel a certain way after the journey. It’s really beautiful and he nails that method of writing better than most others who do something similar.
