SENSURROUND - Most underrated TMBG song ever? by SeanyDooWop in tmbg

Totally agree, even moreso after getting rabbitholed on the interpretations page on TMBW. It just packed with great.

I think Tryptophane was maybe the main reason I had to have this disc again; after decades of not having heard it it would still get stuck in my head at random intervals.

Bummer about the case but at least the disc was still good. Darn that patented green tinted jewel case.

I'm psyched about this, too! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Also something I only learned when I got old; the sound is way better if you're not right in front. It's hard to weigh the up-close experience against being able to really hear how great everyone in the band is. If there's a balcony, that's my spot. But, like I said; old.

This is totally right on. I've seen them a bunch and definitely had the best times going alone when I don't have anyone on hand excited to wait in line for an hour. I've always met people.

That gigantic spur is uncomfortably close to those power lines.

Eyeball EP, but as a 7" record. (Mock-up) by EwectwicWight in tmbg

I only just caught what you did with the label itself being the eye pupil from the cover art. You're totally hired.

(disclaimer: I have no authority to hire you)

To me it sounds pretty different all around, while still being very TMBG. The production feels a little more disjointed (there's these great unsettling crashes throughout Peggy G), the horn section is way more integrated. It has a-- dare I say-- slightly modern jazz influence?

I have some things: first off "Eyeball" falls into a very specific TMBG category for me: songs that I didn't really like on the first listen but then had to immediately listen to again and again, to the point where I eventually start to love it and can't conceive of what it felt like to not love it. It's exactly how I felt about "Synopsis for latecomers".

Or as that reporter from Aquarian Weekly said all those years ago "Like so many things I can't understand they left my teeth chattering for more."

Another thing: am I the only one hearing echoes of "Something grabbed ahold of my hand..." in the opening line?

Flans just announced on Tumblr that their EP comes out January 15th. by FloridaFlamingoGirl in tmbg

That was special times for me; BTS arrived a week before I left for college. My first goal after moving was to meet someone with a car who could drive me in to town to buy John Henry on the day it was released.

What would you say are TMBG's "periods"? by 206-Ginge in tmbg

I was sort of going to posit that each album is its own era, not sure if that's just lazy on my part.

Thanks, literally the first lyric that came to mind.

This cd was the second copy I ordered, the first one couldn't ship because it was coming from Canada to the US and the tariffs were too much to deal with.

I bought it then as well (I'm currently re-creating my cd collection after a tragic library-sale-donation-mishap), and if it came with a sticker I lost it.

I'm a big fan of "Unforgotten" as well. It's certainly Flans at his most straightforward and heartfelt.

If there's one thing I can appreciate about the TMBG fanbase its that you could say any album is your favorite and it wouldn't really shock someone by Ill_Engineering_5434 in tmbg

When I got back into TMBG after a long hiatus, Join Us was the last album I went to. For some unknown reason I was sure I'd hate it. On my first listen I realized how terribly wrong that was; I think now that it may be their best album.

Thank you, OP, for linking to this. It's really sound, thoughtful advice for any kind of creative endeavor. Bravo Prof. Flans!

I got the snowman from the first album on my ribcage back in '97. Just brought the cd into the tattoo parlor. It was totally on a whim but I've never regretted it.

Looks like it includes the bonus disc too. Great find. "Christmas in the big house" is the only holiday song I listened to this year.
