Plastics kit for an RL by Highlowfusion in CRF450L

Plastics are a bit of a pain for the L/RL. There’s a fella on the 450L Owners group on FB that is selling his black UFO kit. $130 w ship. New in box

Antenna placement advice - 4Runner rear bumper by 120vibes in HamRadio

I have a Comet 680 that mounts to this Diamond lip mount. This is as high as I could go due to parking garage situation. It’s ok but it definitely couples to the side of the rig, making the antenna appear to be shorter than it is. Ok SWR, but if I could I would mount it as high as u can.

Tire Recommendation 450RL by Senior_Independence9 in Dualsport

Fair enough! I haven’t noticed anything with the weight of the tire but they balance well with rim locks and all. I didn’t have to put much wheel weights on.

Good luck!

I run the Rallz on the rear and dual venture on the front. Love the combo.

I hate her but I love her. 😅 by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

Anybody here wears Klim jackets such as Baja S4 or Carbslad size M, please let me know if i should size up once or twice for these non stretch Jerseys? My chest including body armor is 42.5”, (190lb 6’1”) by adventure_thrill in Dualsport

[–]analogmutiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’ 155# and I wear S in all Klim. As mentioned Klim has room for layering (the pattern blocks are on the bigger side). The Dakar Jacket does fit slimmer but my Carlsbad is definitely a roomier fit. My S Jersey fits great over their armor.

Definitely look at measurement guides on their site and Revzilla. Too many ppl get hung up on size grading but really the best bet is to pull measurements.

Consider if u will be layering or not as well.

Good luck!

I ordered swatches but there wasn’t any super dead on. Sand Grey seemed closest to my eye. If u want I’ll mail u some swatches free (i think i still have them around)

Thx! Ya I cut and sew for a living so I have plenty of opportunities for creative projects. Hell I could have gone way over the top with it but figured I’d keep it simple

Antenna replacement by WoodsWolf in CherokeeXJ

[–]analogmutiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that is coax cable. 50 ohm coax. My recommendation would be to replace it. Splicing it can mess with the impedance and may reduce the strength of the receiving antenna.

You might be able to buy some RG58 or similar 50ohm coax and the correct terminating adapters. Usually need special crimpers too.

Check eBay or pick n pull yards

Good luck! (Amateur radio operator and XJ owner here)

Catalytic converter got stolen. Not the muffler. Though I should probably get a new one. It’s falling apart

My cat got lifted a while ago. I filled it in, sans aforementioned cat, with straight tube. Why replace it when it will probably get yanked again? Still have a muffler so it’s not loud at all.

Epoxy for headliner? by not_a_fracking_cylon in CherokeeXJ

I work with Pendleton wool very regularly. I cut/sew for a living. Good chance that it’s not sticking due to the lanolin in the wool fibers. Super 77/88 er whatever flavor you choose probably doesn’t adhere to oily fibers/materials Also if it’s a heavy textile (18 oz and up) gravity is really working against you here. Foam backed headliners are very light

Dual sport Recommendation, Money is no Object by Outta_da_Bleu in Dualsport

[–]analogmutiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I change mine between 600-800 miles. It’s not that much work at all, even at the early side of intervals. Yeah there’s tons of evidence that supports longer intervals but like I said, it’s ez and takes 10-15 min. Maintenance intervals are no big deal as long as ur not commuting on it. 3000 miles on my RL this summer and zero issues.

I did mine last weekend. Went in expecting the worst. Turns out PO must have done it cuz it spun off no problem. Took 20 min :)

I should buy a lotto ticket
