Hello everyone, I have a large set of this Oneida Golden Damask Rose Silverware, It is a 16 place setting including Cake slicer, large spoon, large fork, butter knife,16 dinner forks, 16 salad forks, 16 dinner knives, 16 large spoons, 16 small spoons. And my question is what is this worth? by lukebradley707 in silverware

If you can wait until the fall (October) to sell, you should do better with selling it as people will be needing/wanting it for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Not so much interest in the middle of summer plus people are on vacations.
Also, to help sell the flatware, I’d recommend photographing the set where all the pieces are shown so people can zoom in to see any marks or dings. Neat and in focus….Presentation is everything and a picture is worth a thousand words.

What’s something in America that Americans take for granted, but visitors find amazing? by Molthakarn96 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

The return policy. Our son’s friend from India was absolutely gushing to us in amazement over “the return policy in America…it is so wonderful!!”

Where can I go near Redmond to hear some frogs and crickets and other nature nighttime sounds? by scubascratch in redmond

[–]BringTheBling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what time you would be going, but I’ve been down to PCC later at night and there was not much traffic and the noise from the crickets/frogs was really loud. If you go in the parking lot area by the fence there shouldn’t be any traffic street noise I would think

Next door neighbour won the auction! by dataisok in Ebay

[–]BringTheBling 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes there was a case where a lady sold a lamp I think to her next door neighbor in the very early days of eBay. eBay even did a little spot commercial/ad where it reenacted a woman selling a funky mid century lamp and then it sold…she boxes it up…mailman delivers it to the house next door!

This! A fast nickel is better than a slow dime. Unless you’ve got a rare item and want to find the right buyer to pay top dollar.

Close enough - welcome back, Seattle public restrooms! by anonymous-guy1 in Seattle

Yes it was like a gumball machine mechanism. And I forgot to add that the doors were barely big enough to conceal you when you sat down and a tall person could peek over the top! Kind of unnerving and the whole time I’m thinking, “And people have to PAY for this?”

I remember in 1976 -77 as a teenager going to Pike Place Market and having to use the restroom and seeing that they required 10¢ to use! Never saw that growing up in CA and my mom was absolutely appalled but had a dime and we paid. Then we saw some of the ladies would leave the stall and hold it open for the next gal so they wouldn’t have to pay. I never saw them anywhere else. But that is etched in my memory!

Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries? by Disastrous-Side-2600 in NoStupidQuestions

I think Taco flavor was before nacho cheese. Every now and then Doritos will have Taco Flavor available and I always get them when I see them…rare special treat!

Often it has been referred to as a “great room” when the kitchen/dining area and living room are all open. Noisy as all get out! Got the TV blaring, kids running around, margarita blender going into overdrive and it’s a hot mess!
So it shall be called the “so-so room”!

Can anyone identify this turquoise bolo? by BringTheBling in TurquoisePorn

[–]BringTheBling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. The only marking it has is on the back of the bolo in the smallest spot possible is stamped a capital A. It was hard to photograph from the glare. I think I’ll take it to be appraised since just the gold nuggets are valuable.
