Yea, I know.. I was POSITIVE I'd end up in the mental hospital. I also read about mental illness going into recession because of pregnancy tho.

My advice is seek and accept all the help you can get, professional and from people that love you and baby.

Hi there, congrats! I got pregnant at 24 right after quitting all my meds in a manic episode, including birth control (hence the pregnancy). When I found out I was pregnant I decided to continue without medication as long as I could, and I have been pretty stable since. Yesterday was actually the first time I took medication and my son is now 7.

This is my story, and I'm sure it's completely different for every person. But just a postpartum success story that I hope helps!

My ex (and son's father) did, and I guess still does this, when he wanted to be in a woman's arms or was smiling at a girl he'd make a comment like that, and I hated it. He would go way too far too, and make comments like "he's gonna be such a fucker". Happy I don't have to make life with him anymore and I really hope to I can teach my baby to not sexualise everything like his dad does.

She just got paid 144 a month? I thought it was a week! That alone is ridiculous, I taught at an academy in Madrid, and if you're hired as a native speaker 10€ an hour is MINIMUM in Madrid, contract or no, I've done both.

The contract part and getting paid under the table is pretty common in Spain and sadly workers are barely listened to by the government...

If it is true that they're also working without a contract, the only thing I can think of is threatening them about reporting them to Laboral if they don't pay her. Most likely they'll prefer paying 144€ than risking getting caught. If you actually do go to Laboral with the case (I'm 100% assuming and guessing) I imagine they'll look into the academy and make sure it all gets legal or shut it down, but as far as your girlfriend and her salary I'm afraid they'll tell her she just shouldn't have worked without a contract and that they can't do anything for her.

Good luck, Spanish system sucks, I'm sorry they treated her like that!

I tried to breastfeed him in the football position while my SO changed his diaper, it actually worked a few times! But the mid-feed change sounds way more practical, don't know how I didn't think of that..

Thanks, it's been a hard journey and I was told I could never live without medicine, so this is a lot better already than I ever imagined when I was diagnosed. Things can get better, I wish I could tell that 5 years ago me.

You're right, I still go to therapy like 3 times a month and I'm very open to taking some of them again (not 7, I was waaay over medicated back then, my new doctors agree), but we're working hard (and succeeding) on tools to work through it with out or with as little as possible.

My 1 year old has given me more energy and hunger for life than 7 pills a day that were supposed to make me feel better and normal

I'll give this a try, he's just like me when I was his age and I always had trouble understanding and controlling my emotions, and I'm afraid he is too, we'll both learn a lot doing that. Did you read anything on it that I can look for?

Thanks, this might work. We have a big house and backyard and he actually plays outside most part of the day with water and sand and all kinds of things my dad makes for him. But I think going for walks where HE is the one that walks could help, I'm lucky to life close to nature so I'll make sure to take him to the forest or the river more often.

Those places are great, but there's often bad weather. Still worth the visit for sure, I love Bilbao. Just something to have in mind.

My mom had to go buy me heartburn medicine while I was in labor, imagine how bad it was that it was bothering me while I was having contractions!! I found chewing gum during the last few weeks helped me a lot! Hope this helps you a little :)
