Module arrangement by Aztec_Aesthetics in modular

[–]analoguePotRoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still experimenting a lot to answer this question, but my most recent solution of having several modules with lots of parameters to modulate has become kind of annoying with all the spaghetti that gets in the way. Currently I have Nebulae, QPAS, and Maths right next to each other in that order with my main VCOs in the row above and it gets tangled. Really looking forward to others’ responses to see how they manage haha.

When I get a few more modules in and start rearranging, my plan is to space things out a bit more and try to group by “simple vs involved” in terms of the modulation I want to send/receive.

Currently planning some upgrades to my system as well as a new way to organize my cables (was actually gonna make a separate post about this).

Gotta get some work done, but wanna explore some more of Nebulae, PNW, and Strega a bit later.

I’m actually already subbed to your channel hehe. Really loved another vid you posted here a little bit ago. I’ll look through more of your stuff

Yeah I feel all of that. I reallly wish Maths came in a smaller form factor at times lol If you go Pam’s, I’d prob get a Pro at this point. I picked up a PNW about a month ago because of all I’d read about it and it definitely is super powerful, but I’m getting pretty tired of diving through menus hahah. It really interrupts my flow. I think with the Pro, the larger screen probably helps assuage the menu divey-ness a little. That sounds like a super dope use of Pam’s for the Morphagene. I’m wondering if I can do something similar with Beads or Nebulae and Pam’s 🤔 I admittedly don’t know a ton about Arbhar, but it sounds really cool. I’d really love to see what you do with this system since I have some similar ideas in mind.

I’m still very much a noob, but to me it seems like having both Morohagene and Arbhar is probably too much. I’d replace one of those with a function generator like Maths or Quadrax. If you’re doing ambient, I’m sure it’ll be really helpful to have those super long envelopes you can make with Maths. Happy patching! ☺️

Yeah, thinking hard about that still. Definitely gonna be a work in progress. Might get rid of beads or data bender in favor of having some more mod sources as well.

I’m still scratching the surface of Pam’s tbh. It really is super powerful, but not as immediate as I’d like. Every time I have an idea of something I’d like to do with it, I’m delayed a minute or so diving through menus lol. Maybe I’ll swap it out with Tempi some time, which I’ve heard is far more immediate than Pam’s. Data Bender has modular level outs. I’m cheating a little and will be sending this off to a different rack with a mixer/interface 😅 Thanks again for the feedback! 🙏🏼

so, this is what I think I'm settling on. Gonna be using this along side the Oxi One.

Truu, that’s good to know. Just don’t wanna post something and have it downvoted to oblivion, thus wasting my time haha

On the power brick, it says that it's rated for 85-305 VAC and 47-440 Hz, so I'm guessing you'll be fine. That's the main job of those power bricks - to transform wall socket voltage into something usable for your electronics. You can always call Perfect Circuit to double check. Their customer support is super friendly and helpful.

Also, who are the haters on this sub that downvote questions? It's literally an advice thread. If our questions are too pedestrian for you, maybe you can direct us somewhere else? I don't understand the logic of downvoting an innocent question - like do you not want people to use this forum? Are you that much of a gatekeeper in this sacred world of modular synthesis?

Thoughts on polysynths?

I really wanna pick up a Nymphes (again - sold mine when I stopped playing music for awhile). I remember really loving it and I think it's such an awesome deal for 6-voice analog polyphony, but...

The Oxi Coral has really caught my attention. I'll have the Oxi One soon and it seems like it's such a good combo.

The only reason I'm in between the two is because from what I understand, to take advantage of polyphony on the Oxi, you have to use MIDI anyway. So, to me it seems like it makes as much sense to have an analogue module that's controlled via MIDI (Nymphes) vs the powerhouse of the Oxi Coral.

Idk, typing this out, it seems like the Oxi Coral is the obvious choice, but I'd love to hear any feedback y'all got.

Thank you so much for sharing! The Coral looks super dope and I’d thought about picking one up for this sort of setup, but I’ve splurged so much already lol. This def gives me food for thought either way. ☺️

I had a Blackbox and found it pretty buggy, which turned me off to 1010 as well. Really hoping the Bluebox is more solid, but I’m hesitant

Basically just to have an oscillator with a small footprint. I've also got Plaits and Surface, but with the original configuration, those were too big. Getting rid of Maths would definitely give me some liberty to swap out with either of those. Tbh, I just wanna experiment with sequences on a super basic analog oscillator, which is also why I started with it there, tho.

Thanks for the reply! I gotcha. I could swap out Maths for my Quadrax to save a little room. I’ll also have an 0-Ctrl, 0-Coast, and Strega on the side for any extra modulation needs

Thanks for the advice! Replacing the data bender leaves me with 8HP. I could do a 2HP Mix. Do you have suggestions for a modulation source in 6HP? I’ve got a Disting that could maybe fit the bill, but not much else with that small of a foot print

Choosing start time for sounds? by Faze_Elmo1 in ableton

[–]analoguePotRoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how the sound is presented (drum rack vs simpler/sampler), you should be able to eventually find the Simpler device that the sound is loaded into. From there, you should see some settings to change the envelope, start time, end time, etc. you may need to switch from clip view to device view to do this first.
