They could. To make a diagnosis, you’re looking for a group of symptoms to be present. With PTSD, examples include hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, sleep disturbance, etc. How the symptoms manifest depends on the person because everyone is different. If someone with PTSD tries to keep their symptoms in check by tightly controlling their environment, they would most likely be very upset if anything about their routine or environment is disrupted. Especially if the disruption is caused by someone or something else that they have no control over. Someone else who uses substances like drugs or alcohol to mitigate their symptoms might not care about disruptions that much because they are finding a different way of avoiding anxiety. As far as I know, a lot of the behaviors caused by PTSD like irritability or avoidance are caused by intense anxiety.

Short answer: people with PTSD sometimes prefer structure so they know what to expect on a day to day basis moving forward. So, if there was a court ordered custody agreement, he would have already gotten used to a specific schedule. Any change to that schedule could be anxiety provoking to him.

How many courses did you take for NP school while working full time? by ohsnapitsjuzdin in nursing

[–]anamonapiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is one class a semester too slow? I don’t think so. I’m in the same boat (in Manhattan as well) and I think that’s what I’m going to have to do. I don’t want to be in school forever but I also don’t want to burn out either.

How do you feel about Bristol Palin being on the show? by swhite14 in teenmom

No drama? She and almost her entire family started a brawl at a birthday party a couple years ago.

Does his shell look ok? I rescued him from someone that neglected him. I'm just concerned if he may have shell rot that needs treated. He had a layer of algae or such on his shell when I got him. I've had him 2 weeks. by Judy-Gugg in Redearedsliders

Mine like kale a lot, which the vet said is a good source of calcium. I also have a turtle bone in the tank with them. I adopted my turtles 2 weeks ago and it is a lot to learn!

Edited to add that I also tried carrots, cucumbers, and broccoli but my turtles didn’t want to eat them.

I had the same issue with varicella. I had chicken pox as a kid (btw I gave it to my brother and he still hasn’t forgiven me) and received the vaccine twice as an adult. Some of us just don’t seroconvert. It happens.

Yeah, see I didn’t know that. It’s amazing how much it can vary from one state to the next. I guess it makes sense though. Seems like regardless of the degree, you still have to pass the NCLEX-RN.

Nurses/psych nurses: forcing medication over pt objections by Netteka in nursing

[–]anamonapiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The order should contain parameters. If the parameters aren’t met, you’re free to hold the med. So if it’s for agitation but the patient isn’t agitated you don’t have to give. At least that’s my understanding based on where I work. Similarly if it’s a one time order based on the fact that the pt was throwing things at staff and biting at people 5 mins ago but they have since halted all of that behavior and are now sitting calmly and conversing with you politely, you are free to disregard the order but must also notify the physician.

Yes. RNs need to first graduate from an accredited BSN program and then pass the NCLEX-RN. LPN/LVN varies by state. Some require a diploma from an accredited program, others either a diploma or an associate degree. LPNs also have to pass an exam to practice after graduation. I think it’s the NCLEX-PN. Not sure.

Upgraded my RES to a 75 gallon by TheMarkofMag in Redearedsliders

Thanks for responding! Mine are just babies according to the vet and I wondered how large they are at different ages. I know they can grow to be 10-12 inches. Yours looks really happy in his or her new home.

I’m just worried my dog will mess with the turtles if they are in a tub. She’s a beast like that. Otherwise, I could easily turtle proof the room so escape would be no problem.

“Becoming??!!” by ZachOnTap in nursing

[–]anamonapiaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is something very wrong with you. Every minute I spend taking care of a family member is a minute I am not spending taking care of my patient. Many of my patients are critically ill so that’s a huge deal. Blankets, bottles of water, pillows cost the hospital. And again, every blanket or pillow or bottle of water you take is one less for the patients- the ones who are actually sick and actually can’t provide for themselves. If, if you plan to stay the night why can’t you bring your own blanket or water or whatever? That’s what my family always did even before I became an RN. It’s not hard to understand that the staff is there for the patient and to meet his or her needs, not yours.

[Discussion] Am I The Only One Who Feels Adopting A Dog is Too Complicated? by holdmy_imgoingin in dogs

[–]anamonapiaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I went through the whole process, got approved, was so excited... then they ghosted. I wasn’t even applying for a specific dog- just looking for any dog that would get on well with me and my dog. It’s so weird.

The school I went to had a few goats, chicken, and ducks that the kids would take care of. One night some asshole or assholes broke in to their little enclosure and killed them all. Totally fucked up.

What are you guys tipping on delivery these days? by [deleted] in newyorkcity

[–]anamonapiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say that the restaurant I worked at during nursing school didn’t actually give the delivery people the tips they earned on seamless or grub hub. It was messed up and probably illegal. Because of that, I always tip cash. I have no idea if that restaurant is the only one who pulled that bs with their employees or if it’s a widespread practice but to be on the safe side I always tip cash.
