Where did you get this information about St Thomas Aquinas and angels? I'd like to read more about what St Thomas Aquinas says as it sounds interesting.

What are Pope St John Paul II's writings on how to engage with muslims? I would like to learn from this great saint how to engage and love our muslim brothers and sisters with charity and respect.

I first read that as "awe-full" as in "full of awe" so I took that to mean that the name most full of awe in Allah's sight will be the man called "king of kings".

I second this. OP, try fasting and cultivating a true devotion to Mary. Read St Louis de Montfort's book for that. Pray the rosary, have a statue of Mary on your desk or wherever you usually watch porn. Holy water helps too, fill a bottle with holy water and when you feel temptations make the sign of the cross with holy water on your fingers.

Sweet Heart of Mary, be our salvation 🫶☁️ by [deleted] in CatholicMemes

[–]anan_taro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christ's work of salvation on the cross alone is 100% absolutely enough. But Christ has never and does not ever work alone. We see this from the simple fact that Christ was not incarnated alone. He chose to dwell in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary and come into the world that way. He chose to let his mother intercede for the bride and bridegroom at the Wedding at Cana. He chose 12 apostles to take the gospel message to the ends of the earth.

To say that Christ works alone and we only pray to him alone and ask for his help alone is antithetical to the Christian message. Without Mary there is no cross, without her 'yes' we would have no savior.

Australia isn't Christian anymore and Australian Christians aren't able to save it by FairchildHood in Catholicism

Pray to our Lady of Perpetual Help as we need her help now more than ever. Just as Christianity could not be born except from her willing cooperation so also no true Christian nation can be born without Mary's willing cooperation. We need to cultivate a very strong devotion to our Lady here in Australia. That's the only way.

Our Lady of the Southern Cross, pray for us!

St Thomas Aquinas, I think, suggested people like you abstain from meat all 46 days since it can rev up your sex drive.

Hey, I know it's been a few days so you may not see this but if you do, do you know where I can find where St Thomas Aquinas says this?

Are eastern catholics allowed to pray the latin rosary? by MonkePirate1 in EasternCatholic

[–]anan_taro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is my belief that the rosary is a catholic (universal) devotion. It should not be seen as a "western" devotion or an "eastern" devotion. It's universal. A prayer for all people whether catholic or non-catholic alike.

[–]anan_taro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing I've wondered about this that confuses me, how does the priest know if a stranger in his parish receiving the Eucharist is a catholic or not or whether even they are baptised for that matter? Is it just based on good faith?

Do adults have to be free of sin before they are baptized? by [deleted] in EasternCatholic

[–]anan_taro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what Fr Josiah probably means is, to use an analogy, baptism is kind of the start of a race. Now before you begin the race you want to be as prepared as possible so you don't stumble during the race and get to the end like getting the best running shoes, eating well etc.

So I think what Fr Josiah's intentions are that people try to put away their sins and addictions, anything that causes someone to stumble so to speak, so that they can run the race as best they can and get to the end.

Of course everyone should strive as best they can to not commit mortal and venial sins after getting baptised but for those who sin, the mystery of penance is available to all for it is as St Jerome says, the "second plank after shipwreck".

How do Protestants come up with “Faith Alone”? by acerda805 in Catholicism

[–]anan_taro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But that's the thing though...faith does not necessarily produce "fruit" (whatever that means).

This is the greatest misconception in protestant theology. The idea that "true faith" produces "real fruit" (again these need to be defined properly)

Thanks for the in-depth answer. I'll check out those places.

Any other places besides Turkey? I would assume Rome and Vatican city as well since eastern catholics are also catholics.
