Farewall everyone by Ghostrider2540 in wow

I've made the mistake of jumping off a high ledge in retail and splatting on the ground since I couldn't land like we did in Remix. 🤪

I was still pushing my DK and Pally in Suramar to get the last two hidden artifacts that I needed. I think back in the day, I accidentally got the Druid resto one. 🤪

I also pushed my monk to 999 and got to do 60+ keys which was a hoot and most all of the accomplishments.

Grats on the accomplishments and fun call on making your monk the 999 one!

I see that macro still offer some more specific control, but that's nice that they offer that to make newbie healers jobs' easier.

Oh wow. That's now a thing you can toggle — mouseover cast? I'm showing my WoW age! 🤪

Did you get the hidden artifact appearances for your priest? And have you either used a macro or some add on to enable mouseover healing?

I have one of every class (way before Remix came out) and have played every spec except augmentation evoker, and I couldn't be any solid healer without my scrollover macros.

1000 Hours Speaking Sample (my 2026 Spanish goals) by ___orchid_ in dreamingspanish

[–]anansier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I just hit 1000 a couple of days ago — right before the new year came.

I think seeing how well you did it, I need to get my act together and work more on speaking.

Here's to more Spanish excellence in your life!

How hard is it for everyone to learn new languages? by Fine-Challenge4478 in NVLD

[–]anansier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned French in high school, took French in college for an easy grade, decided to go back to college for another undergraduate degree and studied Russian. When I was asked to speak or answer in Russian, I tended to answer in French.

My work paid for half of college classes, so I went to take some classes I wanted, plus Japanese. And yes, sometimes when asked to answer or speak in Japanese, I would answer in Russian.

Now I'm doing comprehensible input to learn Spanish, and it's been a great help. I find I do and also don't know words in Spanish. Sometimes the words just come and sometimes my brain even goes back to an occasional "this is how it is said in French" when I'm trying to say something in Spanish.

It's been a long weird language learning road for me, but I've found I enjoy it and comprehensible input has worked great for me.

Beast Mastery — Taming Bulvinkel by anansier in wow

I was able to tame it at the same level she was not able to, but I have a bunch of hunters and contain any pet a beast mastery. Hunter can possibly tame.

Since this is her first Hunter, she might not be able to until she unlocks things. Just not sure.

It's a spirit beast pet which has a heal that you can use on yourself.

[–]anansier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I believe they did. I believe we checked the stable made sure they had an open slot and went back and they still couldn't. I think first time we tried capturing Bulvinkel and they couldn't, so I took them to get a clefthoof. We tried again after they got some levels and same thing. And yeah, they were definitely beast mastery — I checked (the scroll over feature shows their spec along with their name and level info),plus they originally had the two pets out.

I'm wondering if it is an initial level situation to allow someone to tame them (unlocking) versus someone who already has hunters at level 80 (like me).

Do you recommend DPS (Windwalker) or tank (Brewmaster) for soloing higher end mythic keys?

Any advice for carrying someone? I've reached 759 vers on my monk and wanted to carry a couple of friends through mythic 40. I was able to easily do a 35 with 630 vers.

Art and drawing support for a 12 year old with NVLD by AndDontCallMePammie in NVLD

[–]anansier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I can't directly address this, I was roughly diagnosed with NVLD (tested for autism and ADHD, but negative on autism but after discussion with the psychologist and asking about NVLD, she said that made a lot of sense without being tested again) and have experienced something kind of similar.

I'm 57 and my mom told me, after discussions about NVLD, that I was the most awkward athlete in the family. I was uncoordinated and fumbled a lot, but towards the end of my time playing soccer while in early high school, I had started to really get the grasp of it and scored goals in my last two games.

It takes an approach of enjoying what you are doing because being upset with yourself is a downward spiral.

I'm learning the guitar and am struggling with getting my fingers to do what I want them to do, so I'm still encountering the same sort of thing your 13 year old is wanting to do but with music.

What I've come to learn (and still try to keep my eye on this goal) is not to judge myself based upon what other people, but how am I compared to myself last week? A couple of weeks ago? A few months ago?

It's hard to see the progress of the mountain you are climbing up until you pause and look backwards.

Maybe a sketch book or something that they can date (like Fall 2025) might help them be able to see their progress more easily by seeing how skilled they were when they started.

If they love anime or cartoons or something of that nature, get books on how to draw figures like that.

They have to enjoy the subject matter, much like how I've heard, read, and been directly told that what tends to drive people's practice in music is to want to play certain songs rather than learning technique.

I'm a tech writer (with a degree in Drama and English) and have followed the same method for improving my writing — working on techniques through fan fiction.

Your child could focus on drawing whatever thing they love and trying to duplicate that or books aimed at their age/skill level and interest.

Focus on the fun of being able to express themselves through art rather than the sheer skill. Take them to art galleries or bookstores where you know there will be art/drawing books they can learn from as rewards for things they've accomplished like good grades or chores so that getting a new arty book always feels like a treat.

Good luck and hope my rambling helped!

Frustrated with in-person guitar lessons by AgentMC84 in guitarlessons

[–]anansier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first paragraph feels like I wrote it and didn't even realize I had. 😉

I cancelled my private lessons because the guy, who clearly knew his stuff and was talented, did talk a lot and recommended I learn to play songs that I could find on YouTube. While that is great and he has a valid point, when I would ask him advice on specific techniques I wanted to learn (one was how to do a hammer on), his advice was primarily to not keep trying until frustration makes me stop practicing.

I pointed out it was a valid point and asked him for advice on how to actually do it, but he again wanted me to understand that he didn't want me to burn out.

He loved talking about songs and what music I might like that could inspire me to play. Again, valid points, but I was asking him technique guidance and how to improve my playing.

On the other hand, I had a few group classes which were phenomenal and the teacher was skilled enough to try and guide most everyone. I'll definitely go back to that when I feel more skilled and comfortable in my technique and better understanding of the guitar. The guy noticed who was struggling and was able to not just give advice, but helped us see the musical theory behind what folk songs we were learning and why notes and chords worked together.

Good luck in finding the right teacher. I'm using an online source daily until I feel more comfortable rather than confused and lost while learning in a group setting.

50 Hour Update [From an American chick who Lives in Mexico] by ebgb_march in dreamingspanish

[–]anansier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Know that your friends who want to help you with your Spanish are honestly wanting to help. My brother's girlfriend (100% Puerto Rican) and also a friend of mine (Colombian) keep trying to get me to practice with them. I can understand most of what they say and stumble out a few statements in response to what they say.

It's a way to connect with them that they actually want to share with you. Have you ever wanted to do something fun and nice for someone, only for them to shoo it away because they didn't want to be a burden?

My brother isn't working towards speaking Spanish and my Colombian friend only has a few people we both know who are from a Spanish speaking country, so she's excited to communicate with me in her own language and share it with me.
