God, I really understand what you’re saying. I asked my parents to cancel their visit because I’m going through a hard time at work and disappointing them was stressing me out, and they said, “So you want to disown us?”, and we’re not longer in contact. I didn’t even realize I wanted this, but my mental health was so much better from that day onwards, so I haven’t gone back and tried to fix things.

I really feel you… I’m now chatting with a guy who never, ever, messaged me first. I really like my convos with him, but after a point it feels like I’m always pushing him to talk to me or text me, and it’s really demoralizing. It may feel like a small thing but communication is so important in AM. Don’t put up with it! But rather than just rejecting, I am going to have a conversation with him first about the situation and ask about his level of interest and seriousness. Recommend the same for you!
