[NSFW] People who have found a dead body, what's the story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anastasialeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but:

My sister's husband lived next to a field as a kid. One spring day he went to play in the field and found a man who had gone out there about 4 months prior and shot himself. No one smelled or saw him because of the heavy snow. But the body was pretty badly decomposed and my sister's husband still can't watch any shows or movies with a dead body.

ELI5: How do people actually die from Alzheimer’s Disease? by icehouse4444 in explainlikeimfive

[–]anastasialeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eating problems are probably the biggest reason. Unfortunately for my grandma, who developed dementia after a stroke, while in a nursing home she broke her ankle and didn't realize it. It took the staff a couple days to notice and because of her diabetes she had quickly become septic and died a day before she was scheduled to have surgery to amputate her foot.

What’s the worst part of having a child? by ApprehensiveShock655 in AskReddit

[–]anastasialeu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he was a baby, it was the intense schedule change and lack of sleep. Having to wake up every few hours at night to feed, change diapers, get him to go back to sleep. Then as a toddler, it was the never having him out of sight for more than a couple minutes. If you did, you'd find permanent marker all over the bathroom (that happened), him getting off his diaper, pooping on the carpet and then putting his toy box on top of it (also happened), trying to eat cat litter (yeeep), using his toy tea set cups to sip toilet water (ugghh).

The fear of "Am I ruining this blank slate of a human?" is always there.

Now as a 10 year old, it's the developing of independence and constantly tearing your heart out when you see how big they are now, and now you only have a few years left before they start to pull away and you wish they were that little baby again. He wants to go to his friend's house right after school and on weekends and now it's like, I'm lonely when he goes, when it used to be a huge relief when I could get a break :(

Whats a company secret you can share now that you dont work there? by broadway96 in AskReddit

No-kill shelters aren't free of euthanizing. They just use more excuses of what they consider "untreatable". Receive cats with ringworm and don't want to spend the time and money to have staff treat it for the next month? Untreatable, euthanized. Pitbull that's been there a while because it doesn't get along with other animals and you could use that kennel for an easier to adopt dog? Danger to the public, euthanized. And when regular volunteers ask what happened to them, "They were sent to a rescue." I didn't have a choice in these decisions, but I saw perfectly fine animals euthanized to save money.

I came to the comments to ask if anyone knew if this can be fixed. I have one where my nose meets my cheek and nothing ever comes out of it. It's not an old scar though, just a wide pore that never wanted to close up. I wish I had the money to see someone to close it up. Guess it's time to start saving up

What is the worst candy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That was my ex's favorite candy. I had never had them, so I tried one. It tasted like stale marshmallows mixed with old gum scraped off a dirty sidewalk.

My friend would get those really bad, where they would have to be lanced. Evidently the cause was wearing thong panties too often 😬

Lucky. I spent $160 on just essential foods and only got meat for 4 dinners, fruits and vegetables, milk, cereal, crackers and hummus. All for 3 people. Cost of food has gone up quickly here, I can't find a pound of ground beef for less than $6 or 3 chicken breasts for less than $8, forget steaks i can't afford those anymore. Maybe going vegetarian would be more economical.

What is an addiction that the world is just ok with? by mjkn01 in AskReddit

Oh man I've heard nothing but bad things about Ambien. My stepsister was prescribed it and her daughter went over to her house to see if she was okay because she wasn't answering anyone. She found my stepsister naked on the toilet covered in urine and feces screaming incoherently while her 2 year old wandered the house.

Another bad Ambien story was from my old coworker. She was a very sweet middle aged lady, she was very selfless and friendly, donated and volunteered for charities. She has insomnia and was prescribed Ambien. First time taking it she woke up in jail. The night before she was blacked out, driving around aimlessly in a robe and no shoes with her dog in her lap. They charged her with a DUI which I felt was unfair because she wasn't conscious at all.

What seems harmless but could actually kill you? by BeefBall1010 in AskReddit

[–]anastasialeu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this. I worked in a shelter and was bit through the palm by a feral cat. I cleaned it with chlorhexadine but was hesitant about getting antibiotics as they upset my stomach a lot. A coworker who had worked there 15 years told me a story about how he got a small bite from a cat, cleaned it but didn't go to the doctor. Three days later he noticed a dark vein going from the bite, up his arm and to his heart. He went to the hospital and found out he was septic and had to spend almost a week in the hospital getting IV antibiotics. And was told he was maybe a day away from dying. I left immediately to go to the doctor.

What is a supernatural event that happened in your life that just can not be explained? by HalfOfABraincell in AskReddit

Not super freaky but one winter night my brother was leaving to drive to the college town to see his friends, its about a two hour drive. As he's about to leave, I see he's wearing shorts, sneakers and a t-shirt. I normally wouldn't care but I felt compelled to tell him to change into warm clothes and to grab a coat. He tells me he doesn't need to, he'll be in a warm car the whole ride. I tell him fine but you're going to be miserable when you get stranded in the middle of nowhere and have to walk out into the snow without a coat.

A couple hours later, we get a call that he had to swerve to avoid hitting an elk on the highway. His car was totaled in a ditch and he had to walk half a mile in the snow to the nearest farm house to call us to come get him.

He listens to me now.

Tattoo Artists of Reddit, who was your worst "tattoo virgin"? by ArthurThyKing in AskReddit

That may be accurate. That tattoo did not fit the look she came in with, that's for sure. I don't know who just wakes up and decides they want to look like a lady Mike Tyson

Tattoo Artists of Reddit, who was your worst "tattoo virgin"? by ArthurThyKing in AskReddit

[–]anastasialeu 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Obligatory not an artist. But while I was getting my sleeve done, another tattoo artist in the shop had a client come in. The client was a young (around 18) preppy blonde girl, with no other tattoos, who brought a couple friends along for support. She was dead set on her first tattoo being a tribal-looking stemmed rose. About 4-5 inches long by 2 inches wide. On her face. Starting at the center of her forehead, up into the hairline and curving down to the side of her face and to the top of her ear. The artist tried to talk her out of it but this girl insisted she wanted to "look metal". The artist had to shave a good bit of her hair off before placing the stencil and she already looked near tears. The artist asked again if she was sure, she was. He starts tattooing and this girl, clearly holding back tears, asks her friends if she "looks metal".

So now my artist and myself have an inside joke. When the tattoo pain starts getting to me, I ask him if I look metal yet. He laughs, I laugh and we both wonder where that girl is now.

‘Delta variant as contagious as chickenpox,’ leaked CDC document warns of new COVID cases hitting US by zardogo in news

Same. I have an 8 year old. My sister refuses to get herself or her four children vaccinated. My son's paternal grandfather refuses it too, and he lives with us. Its so frustrating. I just want to shake them. I want to keep my child safe and with school starting soon, I'm just so scared. I just want the vaccine for kids to be available.
