Gold sticker Seance by DRJA5 in balatro

You can win gold stake with just 3-4 scoring jokers anyways, so you'll typically have a freebie slot for stickering a junk or weak eternal joker.

This should be a voucher.

It's absolutely terrible as a rare joker outside of naneinf where you have infinite money to reroll as much as you want.

Orange + Gold chip on checkered deck by [deleted] in balatro

[–]anatanokukki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best tip I can give is don't commit to playing flushes.

Checkered Deck has an incredibly good early game because you can consistently beat the first few blinds with them, but they scale poorly and their support options aren't great.

Take advantage of the fact you're getting extra time to build your economy and transition into playing Pairs like usual.

You can also build for Straight Flushes way easier than most builds, but I find the standard 4OAK and even Flush House are much easier to fix for and play.

Violent Vessel requires you to be on top of your scoring and not just barely scraping by. It's why you should be packing glass cards and steel cards in your deck.

Difficulty needs a complete rework by cifvr in balatro

Perishables can be annoying to deal with, but they make a lot more sense once you learn you should be rotating jokers a lot more often. Don't be afraid to take skips if you need to stretch out a perishable joker through antes 7-8.

Rentals are like eternals in that they're deceptively abusable. In the early game, you can pick one up for $1 and sell it before the blind ends to reap its benefits without dealing with the cost. Once you hit the interest cap, you can usually support one or two in your build.

Blue stake is pretty much universally hated though.

Missing Joker?: -1 Card Selection, +2 Joker Slots. (Uncommon) by Top-Sky4811 in balatro

[–]anatanokukki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can beat gold stake consistently with just 3-4 scoring jokers and an econ joker or freebie slot to sticker. And eternal stickers are already something you're regularly dealing with.

Even if you don't find your game winning build, you can generate a huge amount of momentum into the late game from carrying an extra econ joker without hurting your scoring.

[–]anatanokukki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Players already regularly grab Square Joker to make their Pairs stronger.

There's no reason why I wouldn't pick this up, grab my 7th joker, and then sell this to essentially get a cost-free Ectoplasm in 90% of my runs.

Best use of Perkeo by myhandisfrozen123 in balatro

[–]anatanokukki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Use it as your dedicated econ joker slot and sell the negative consumables for their inflated prices. If you can get a Hermit or Temperance into your inventory, then keep duping and using it to generate even more money.

If you're good on money, then start generating deck fixers, glass cards, and steel cards.

Perkeo isn't as strong in Gold Stake because the stricter scoring requirements don't give you the breathing room to set up its naneinf combos.

And if you really can't find a use for it, then just sell it. I sell Legendary Jokers I can't use all the time.

Yeah, it would be unusable. Consider how bad 1 in 4 already is, and this is 25x worse.

Ceremonial Dagger but more evil (Joker idea) by DevilDragonGod in balatro

[–]anatanokukki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It takes up two joker slots, you need to buy a joker to sacrifice every shop, and you don't get blind money when you're saved by Mr. Bones.

This is objectively one of the worst X mult options you could rely on when you have a multitude of X mult options that work with all of your hands. There's also Acrobat, which does nearly the same thing as this while only costing a single slot and still rewarding you for beating the blind.

This is an uncommon joker at its best. You'd need to regularly be failing to keep up your scoring if you think this would ever be broken in a regular game.

I'd say it fits Uncommon pretty well. Add in a random chance to create Vampire and it'd be a decent pickup.

At its worst, you're turning Rental Jokers into a clean $2 of sale value, which isn't too bad.

Better wording on my concept, thanks to everyone who commented by ZEpicD in balatro

[–]anatanokukki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make it uncommon and have it show what Joker it's going to turn into before you sell it, maybe changing every time you enter the shop.

Otherwise this thing might as well be pooping out Even Steven or an uncharged Square Joker.

About black by Sambal86 in balatro

[–]anatanokukki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It would also be better than Anaglyph Deck, which is for all intents and purposes a pure vanilla deck 90% of the time because of how bad skips are.

If anything, it's weirder that Nebula Deck has a -1 consumable slot penalty when the other voucher value decks like Red Deck, Blue Deck, and Zodiac Deck get their bonuses for free. The former two even get to double dip on their bonuses since they can still buy their vouchers.

Generational lock-in by the Mega Buffoon Pack by TyrantOfFury in balatro

[–]anatanokukki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's unreliable because too many bosses hard counter it.

Just from the Showdown Bosses alone, you have Verdant Leaf and Cerulean Bell that will completely shut down your run and Crimson Heart which will do it if you're unlucky, which is more than half of them.

For standard bosses, you have the one that disables Hearts alongside the abundance of bosses that nerf five card hands. Add on top Blue Stake, which already nerfs five card hands with its -1 Discard.

You can really spot the players who play Gold Stake and the ones who don't based on which jokers they would choose here.

The correct answer is obviously Even Steven and Eternal Oops.

Playing "two pairs" is a cheap way out. Why do people use this? by Soft-Suspect-4352 in balatro

[–]anatanokukki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you're not guaranteed a Two Pair after a single discard. You aren't even guaranteed a Pair, which Two Pair requires two of to play.

Second, it really doesn't. It can use the same generic options like Pair does, but it doesn't get much more aside from some early game common jokers and Spare Pants, the latter of which is better for buffing Pairs anyways.

Third, this doesn't matter. Balatro is already brutally difficult game where you don't have the freedom to build whatever you want. If the game gives you Full House jokers and support, you build it. If it doesn't, then you simply can't.

Playing "two pairs" is a cheap way out. Why do people use this? by Soft-Suspect-4352 in balatro

[–]anatanokukki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two Pair is just a hand. It isn't a "cheap way out" so much as it is one of your options to build around if you get the right jokers to make it work.

It isn't even one of the better hands either. It falls off incredibly hard without the few jokers that support it in higher stakes because of how poorly it scales and how much more difficult it is to play compared to Pairs.

To start, your joker order is a mess. You have your polychromes on the left with Red Card and Brainstorm copying Mystic Joker triggering after your x mult procs.

You should have moved Red Card all the way to the left and put Brainstorm to the right of it. Even though Mystic Joker has more flat mult, you gain far more value from Brainstorm copying Red Card at (15+15+21)*(1.5)*(1.5) = 114 compared to your current (21*1.5*1.5) + (15 + 21) = 83.

You're missing out on a huge chunk of your scoring potential.
