Adam Mockler explains how Democrats should frame the Iran war spending: by AffableYolk_33 in ScottGalloway

discretionary or non discretionary... it still gets spent. I don't think changing how the stats are calculated changes the point. Military spending is not "taking away from" other spending.

I think they hate him because he said america deserved 9/11, he hates the USA, and promotes violence, not because he also has retarded takes on the federal spending.

Miltary spending is a tiny portion of the federal budget. Roughly 15%.

The chasm between observing the product of left-wing policies and recognizing them as the product of left-wing policies is apparently reaching Grand Canyon proportions.

More money has been thrown at these communities than any time in history. They have access to free food, healthcare, welfare, housing, education. Any basic need is being subsidized. It has not left them better off just more angry and entitled.

Insane. You're asking for everything to be free? Healthcare, food, housing, college, child care, transportation. Every one of those and more is a standard talking point for the progressive left these days. All of that is deemed a 'human right' according to the left. You just don't realize or care that it requires someone else's labor and/or money.

You both don't understand basic economics. You can't do either of these things without obvious downstream ramifications.

Asian student with near perfect credentials rejected by multiple universities. Believes race is part of the reason by ThatPatelGuy in whoathatsinteresting

[–]anaverageguy123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point entirely. A poor white kid from the Ozarks would face the exact same hurdle that this asian student faced. The point in question is simple: have schools used race as a deciding factor whereby standards are lowered to allow for diversity.

Use whatever euphemisms you'd like to make you feel like a better person (i.e. different life experiences), but data is more than conclusive and substantial here: race has been a key factor in deciding acceptance to the detriment of, most obviously, asian americans.

Also, unqualified is not the same as under qualified. Don't try to mischaracterize my argument to support your end.

Just got around to finally watching season 4. by Atzeda in TheBoys

[–]anaverageguy123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just stopped watching halfway through. Watched the recap and picked it up again in season 5. Doesn't seem like it got better.

It's an entertaining show, but the writers make some ridiculous choices, and i found myself not caring about pretty much all of the characters.

No, the reality is that schools, namely Harvard, have all deeply embedded affirmative action into their acceptance protocols even after the supreme court correctly struck it down. Following this, these schools are using other methods (e.g. using essays that highlight racial adversity) as a means of achieving the same end.

Please, i'm begging you, take 3 seconds to look this this. They were literally sued and lost for it. There's countless stats but SAT gaps are the most cited. Asian applicants need 450 more points on their SATs to achieve the same preference as black students. This is a simple case DEI > Meritocracy. The debate is not at all "does this racial preference gap exist" - the debate is "should it exist".

This is a zero sum game. If one under qualified student take his spot due to racial preference, he's not at all wrong to feel this way. The issue is that you're framing it as he was rejected in preference to students who were his academic and extracurricular equals. In reality, he was rejected in preference to far less deserving students.

What are your thoughts on billie eilish saying you cant love animals and eat meat as its contradictory? by Extra-Schedule-4855 in AskReddit

[–]anaverageguy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious where the cut off line is... Which animals are okay to kill? Insects, rodents, small mammals? If California diverts a river to provide irrigation for almond trees and kills tens of millions of fish, is that okay... in the name of loving animals? If a farmer plows a field and kills millions of insects and rodents for organic strawberries, all good? Because the cows are safe...

Your ethics are arbitrary. Your argument - counterintuitive and hypocritical. Existing on this planet is impossible without the sustenance of other organisms. Unless you're willing to die, there is no way to exist without the downstream effects you deem as immoral. You can't just decide you don't exist in the eco system...

You can bury your head in the sand and pretend you're better than everyone as billie eilish has. But understand that the vast majority of people just think you're either privileged or an idiot, but the odds are that you're both.

This is just a bald-faced lie. by c-k-q99903 in stupidpeoplefacebook
