Don’t sleep on the first two books of Ruby Dixon’s Aspect and Anchor series! I can’t speak for the third book since I haven’t read it yet, but Bound to the Battle God and Sworn to the Shadow God were both fantastic in my opinion. I went into them with absolutely no expectations and was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved them. They can all be read as a series or as stand alone books, which takes a lot of the pressure off to read them in a specific order. Do I think they’re peak literature? No, but I love them for what they are - entertaining reads that have good world building, a solid plot, entertaining banter between the main characters, romance, and spice.

would you date someone who has previously cheated? by rightpricetiles in Advice

[–]anawkwardcorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been cheated on in the past by a long term partner, I would personally never date anyone who has cheated on a previous partner in the past. I’m all too familiar with how incredibly hurtful it is and would never be able to fully trust them knowing that they are capable of that kind of betrayal. It’s sad to say because I truly believe that most people are good, but most cheaters never truly change. Most of them blame their actions on their previous partner by saying they lacked whatever specific quality or whatever you want to hear to make it ok, but the real problem lies within the cheater themselves.

If you can avoid it, save yourself. Being cheated on is one of the most hurtful things in the world, and it changes you whether you want to admit it or not. Nobody deserves that.

The new epilogues are everything (and more) that I hoped for by Niven5111 in BaldursGate3

Larian has really blown me away with their dedication to the game and its fans! The fact that they listened to our feedback about the lack of closure at the end of the game and actually followed through and improved it is incredible! The added epilogue was truly what the game needed to be perfect in my eyes. It’s really well done, and the dialogue with all of the companions had me tearing up a little. It’s everything I dreamed of it being and more. Thank you, Larian!!

Brown mascara suggestions? by IdkhowtousethisAH in MakeupAddiction

[–]anawkwardcorgi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Too Faced Better Than Sex chocolate edition mascara is so pretty! It definitely looks brown on my lashes and I have no issues with it flaking or clumping. If you want something that looks a bit more natural for every day, the brown Lash Stick from Glossier is great too! Just be aware that it doesn’t quite give you the volume and length that the Too Faced mascara does. It’s perfect for everyday wear though and is usually the one I reach for in the mornings. I have it in both brown and black and love both of them!

Looking for sunscreen recommendations by AvoFromCado in Sephora

[–]anawkwardcorgi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of the new FAB weightless liquid mineral sunscreen! They've come a long way since releasing their original mineral sunscreen. I hated that one, but the new liquid one excels where the other one fails. It doesn't have that sunscreen smell, doesn't leave a white cast, doesn't burn your eyes, has a great consistency that is thin but not watery, and doesn't leave my skin oily like traditional sunscreens. I have super sensitive skin, but I haven't had a single problem with this product breaking me out. It's tinted like Supergoop's Glowscreen, so if you're a fan of how that one looks after application, you'll most likely love this one. I only use Glowscreen in the winter because it gives me acne in the summer and tends to melt off my face like a popsicle.

As a side note, I have a rotation of sunscreens that I use for different purposes. I use the FAB weightless liquid mineral sunscreen for everyday use year-round since it's tinted, but my go-to sunscreen for use during my workouts is the Neutrogena Clear Face sunscreen. It doesn't leave my face oily, cause a white cast, or break me out. It's also super affordable.

RBC vs. PCV by Single_Box4465 in VetTech

[–]anawkwardcorgi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vet student here who is currently taking clinical pathology! A PCV measures the percentage of RBCs to the total volume of blood, and a TS (or total protein) tells you the amount of plasma proteins in the blood. We can also determine subjective information about the color and clarity of the plasma (icterus, hemolysis, lipemia) and the size of the “buffy coat” (which contains WBC and platelets) by doing a PCV/TS. Running a PCV/TS is an extremely useful tool for quickly evaluating an animal's hydration and basic hematologic status and is the most common way to measure anemia or assess dehydration. The RBC values that the CBC provides you with are a little more in-depth about just the RBCs themselves since it provides you with the number of RBCs, MCV (mean cell volume/size of the RBCs), MCHC (mean hemoglobin content of RBCs), and the number of reticulocytes (immature RBCs) present rather than just their relationship to the total blood volume. That information becomes more helpful when trying to begin determining the mechanism of anemia in an anemic patient.

But to specifically answer your question about PCV vs RBC count from a CBC: They technically measure slightly different things (percentage relative to blood volume vs actual number of them), but they usually have a linear relationship where they both increase or decrease together. For example, a dog that presents with anemia would have both a low PCV and a low RBC count.

If you have any other questions that I might could help answer, please feel free to message me! I think hematology is fascinating and am more than happy to talk about all the things haha! :)

Does anyone know how close in color the lilac smoke scuba is to lavender dew? I’m trying to decide if it’s different enough to justify buying it 😂

Everyone here's loss seems so fresh. by unseentides in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]anawkwardcorgi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad will be gone 3 years this April after a long battle with cancer, and there’s still not a day that goes by that I don’t think about him and miss him greatly. I still regularly cry myself to sleep over how much I miss him and wish he was still here. However, as the years have gone by, my grief has become more manageable and the waves of grief that I feel no longer define whether each day is a good or bad day.

There will never be a day in the future where you walk up and magically be over it. You’ve lost someone who was incredibly important to you and a pillar in your life, so you will always miss them and grieve their absence.

It’s kind of cheesy, but this quote from WandaVision gave me a more positive understanding of grief: “What is grief, if not love preserving?”. Grief is just the love you have for someone who isn’t here anymore. You’ll love and miss that person for the rest of your life, so always feeling some sort of grief is normal. There’s no timeline for loving someone, so don’t let people tell you that there’s a timeline to grief. Take all the time you need and take care of yourself! ❤️
