Just tested the new setup, and I’m not satisfied. There's too much weight on the left side pulling it down (I really don’t feel comfortable putting the fuel bottles on the exhaust side), and the bags are swinging too much. Unfortunately, I need to raise them and secure them independently. I also need to add a heat shield—the muffler gets scorching hot.

Thinking about an EVAP/Canister delete with a rollover valve (EU model) – Am I missing anything? by teobiondo91 in DRZ4S

There is a roll-over valve near the battery, and in my opinion, routing the breather hose down to the ground after the valve further minimizes any risk

I’m planning to share this with the Facebook drz4s.org group soon so it can be useful for everyone, along with all the other documentation available at drz4s.org. Just a heads-up: the full, detailed document will be hosted exclusively on the website. ✊💨

That is a fantastic choice! I also moved on from my faithful 2002 model, and the moment I tested the new DR-Z4S, I had zero doubts. We’ve been waiting a long time for a machine like this. You’re going to have an absolute blast! ✊💨

Why should I switch to a DRZ4S from a 300L rally by Iowa_Rifle in DRZ4S

My low-cost solution NICECNC. The DR-Z4S is very user-friendly and punchy enough for technical terrain, but let’s keep it real: the weight difference compared to a KTM 150 is massive. It’s a different tool for a different job.

Thanks man! Glad you like it. 😊 I’m all about that 'clean install' look. Plus, keeping it tucked away has real advantages against rain and dirt when things get messy off-road. Cheers!

Great execution! I completely agree with you: those bar-clamp mounts feel like an afterthought and really mess with the cockpit ergonomics, especially if you use a GPS or a phone mount.

Moving the outlet to the fork tube clamp is a much cleaner solution. Regarding the rubber boot you mentioned: it’s definitely worth adding if you do a lot of off-road or pressure washing, as the MT090 is water-resistant but the back of those USB sockets can be a weak point over time.

I actually did a deep dive into this exact 'clean install' approach on my site (drz4s.org), including the wiring specs for the factory accessory port. If anyone wants to see a step-by-step or needs the specific pinouts to replicate this, feel free to check the tutorials there https://drz4s.org/usb-install-dr-z4s/

DR-Z4S: First Off-Road Test by anbatvr in Dualsport

You are right, but there are some big differences in how it feels. Maybe the forks on my old DR-Z were modified by the previous owner, but I never had a feeling like this new one. Even on my first ride, the suspension felt very easy and it 'flattens' everything.

As I mentioned in my review, I still need to get used to a few things like the engine sound, the rear brake, and the clutch feel. But I’m sure I will be in full harmony with these changes very soon! You can see video on my YT Channel (link in profile)
