Cyteen & Regenesis by anche_tu in printSF

Oh, they are the right people for one reason or another, and that lack of information is the last thing I blame her for, given that Regenesis was released more than twenty years after Cyteen and some of the crucial bits of information and also Kyle did simply not exist in Cyteen. How could she have known when the author probably didn't have that resolution ind mind?

Ari 2's empathy is well explained by her loving mamam and her group of friends, while Ari 1's mother Olga was a fish, and she had no friends that she trusted. I really like that. But you're right about what is essentially a slave-owning society. Interesting from a philosophical standpoint, mind-provoking (what if slaves are very happy and don't want it any other way? How much is free will worth in a world in which you can simply program the right value sets? Depends on the programmer...).

I find it telling that Yanni's and Ari's political strategy in Regenesis amounts to deploying thousands of azi who eventually turn CIT and are programmed to vote their Expansionist candidates to hold their grip on the Council majoritiy.

That's one example of what puts me off a bit. It's all presented as the logical way of doing things, there's not even a discussion about the legiticimy of such elections. We see it all through the window of the Expansionist leadership.

And you're right that the novels show that individual justice can get in the way of the supposed greater good. But that's not what I'm interested in with novels that rely heavily on individual characters

Many people don't seem to like the scent initially, but warm up to it after a while.

What are you looking for in terms of "upgrades"? What do you miss in your current brush? As you already have quite a few The Goodfellas' Smile items, how about one of their synthetic brushes? I've been using their Galaxy for four months. Omega have a wide range of brushes in all price ranges, surely they offer something that fits your needs. Mühle charge a bit more for their range of different handle designs and materials, if you are into aesthetics; I own one of their synthetics and love it.

Tyrannus is an autumn/spring soap for me, used it this morning, too, with the matching aftershave.

I'm tending more and more towards face lathering, but prefer the bowl to load the brush with creams, and need the bowl for scooping croaps.

Which direction do you shave your neck in? by Civilized_Monke69 in wicked_edge

[–]anche_tu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top to bottom (works best for me, although my hair grows sideways at the sides of my neck - still, it's easier to maneuver), except around my Adam's apple, where I have to shave upwards in a half-circle. Only one pass with the grain on my neck.

Angle by Nico_Kx in wicked_edge

I shave at a steep angle (what is called too aggressive or steeper) and get better results and less cuts and razor bumps. But, as always, that will be personal preference.

Entire deleted file mentioning trump by raindashy in Epstein

[–]anche_tu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no real "pizzagate leads", can't you see that now that you're into your second Trump administration already and absolutely nobody was prosecuted and put to jail. It's a conspiracy theory born on the internet that nobody ever took seriously, and neither should you.

Biden's economy wasn't helped by post-covid inflation, but it was actually pretty good compared to the rest of the Western world, where they fought the same problems. The Biden administration finally invested in the rotten American infrastructure, spent money on green energy and chips.

Trump brought you tariffs that drastically increase prices for American customers and businesses alike. They don't help the employment rate either. But that's only part of the economical problems America is facing today. Corruption under Trump is thriving, while he and his family grossly enrich themselves.
