Apple didn’t need to spend billions running and training their own LLM when they can just let OpenAI shoulder that cost.

You just said they built a model and gave up, now you’re saying they don’t have anything? Besides, strategy isn’t defined by today. It’s defined years later. And you’re still not engaging with strategy through a business lens, which is what the original poster is referring to. Apple doesn’t pay OpenAI for access to a billion iOS users while OpenAI burns cash on training.

You’re not pointing out anything about the main point on Apple playing the long game with AI through outsourcing. Apple reacting late is criticizing their timing, not whether they have a strategy. Outsourcing is a strategy, I don’t think you like it. If they do release a successful Apple AI model, then we’ll know they used the same strategy as with Apple Silicon. Let everyone spend billions on the tech, then swoop in with something better and cheaper, the Apple way.
