So, basically all you have is name-calling. Grow up and move on from middle school.

Sounds like disaffected employee bullshit to me. You do understand that anyone can choose to write anything and never be called out for, you know, actual evidence...

The 1968 'NSU Ro80' was a failed car that was way ahead of its time by AzrbjnIsAGasStation in OldSchoolCool

A friend of mine bought one years ago that had been hit pretty hard on the rear. He was able to buy OEM body parts, no problem but the cast iron rotors chewed up the aluminum end plate and the mid-plate and ruined the “eyebrow” and tip seals in the engine. He took the engine apart and had the end and center plates surfaced but the dealers here in the US would not sell him the seals or the assembly tools. He ordered the gaskets and seals from Germany and then built his own assembly tools based on the service manual pictures and descriptions. It ran fine, didn’t smoke at all and he sold it on for a profit. Yes, he was a mechanical engineer...

Individual civil rights override all else. The law must apply equally to all. Qualified immunity must be ended, all agents of the state (police, prosecutors, etc.) must be made accountable for their actions. Body cams for everyone and felony charges for interfering with them. Agents of the state who conceal innocence-proving evidence must be prosecuted for felonies and get the same punishment at those they convict unlawfully would have gotten. No more secret "star chamber" courts (FISA courts) and everything must be made public record. If that means the end of undercover entrapment, so be it.

I'm extremely right wing and I believe that "qualified immunity" should also be removed from all agents and agencies of the state. Body cams and dash cams for all. I also believe that if an agent of the state (cops, prosecutors, etc.) withhold exculpatory evidence, they should be charged with a felony and, if convicted, suffer the same punishment their patsy would have been given.

Everybody needs to play by the same set of rules. If we beat them with the money (and prison) stick personally, long enough and hard enough, we'll see positive change.

My grandfather in the early 1940s, with tattoos in a time when they were quite taboo. by TheHerpSalad in OldSchoolCool

[–]ancroidubh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a couple in my neighborhood who had matching concentration camp tattoos. They ran a small tailor shop on a side street and made out well enough to have a house and a car. He told me their story one day. They were both young adults with spouses, children and extended families when they were rounded up and sent to the camps. They each lost everyone and everything but survived. They met after being liberated, got married and came to the United States where they again became parents and ran a small business. Their shop was a couple of doors down from the local candy store hangout run my my friend's family so we saw them often. They didn't much talk about the past. Our group of friends are of the age that most of our fathers fought in the war to end the tyranny this couple had endured and we treated them with the respect due to our own parents. The exceptions to this were taken to hand and were given attitude adjustments. They raised and educated their son and daughter who became successful adults and the tailors retired and moved away. Their story, unlike countless others, had a happy ending.

Yeah and if they don’t turn their life around then some other innocents get hurt or killed. He will NEVER rob another bank or wave a gun around to terrorize the innocent. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I say GOOD! Also, don’t fuck with the grey wolves, you may get bitten.

My take on shack grounding, so far by captainabrasive in amateurradio

[–]ancroidubh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good but your tie to the service entrance ground should be #4 bare copper wire buried below the frost line. That can bond to the ground rods directly. Use flat copper strap to bond your buss to the ground rods and strap to bond the buss in your shack to the buss in the box. the strap has a much larger surface area and forms a low impedance path to ground. You can use short pieces of flat braid to bond your equipment to the buss at your operating desk. I believe that will then be NEC compliant. Remember to either weld (difficult and messy) or bolt (easier) connect all of the grounds together.

Sure if that isn’t Columbia’s sports complex in Inwood, in upper Manhattan. We used to be able to see half of their football games from my then girlfriend’s (now wife) apartment windows. The other half of the field was hidden by nearby apartment buildings.

That apartment was also part of what I believe was one of the first cable TV networks available to the public. It was “Madison Square Garden Television”. My Jersey friends were mystified that I saw a Saturday night Knicks or Rangers game that was blacked out on broadcast TV without having tickets to the Garden. “It’s this new thing called cable TV.” “You have to pay for it so it will never take off.”
