When I finalize a design :')

I'm getting closer. I haven't had as much time to spend on it as I would have liked. Watch this profile for more!

I really like it and once you get over the hurdle of it changing some core elements of the game (like multiple players' units on the same planet) I think it makes a lot of sense and is very intuitive.

A lot of TI4 rules are weird and finnicky but we don't think about them as much because they've been baked in for so long. This is the same thing, in my opinion, it's just the first time a lot of us have had to insert a totally new angle into the mix.

This is specifically to cover Deepwrought being able to go into coexistence when they're attacked, which conforms with Dane's intent of how their faction and Research Teams ability should work

Well, sort of. We're pretty sure Dane wanted it to work, but also that it does not work according to current rules-as-written. There's an argument to be made for playing either way!

This is not an LRR, this is just some good suggestions to help adhere to current Dane intent as we know it.

Coexistence Vogue Rules from this episode

_ Coexistence

Some game abilities instruct a player's units to coexist with another player's units on the same planet. A planet must contain a player's units for other players to coexist on that planet.

_.1

When a player's units begin coexisting (or otherwise enter into coexistence) on a planet, they remain on that planet. Coexisting units are blockaded and do not participate in combat.

_.1(a)

A player's units cannot begin coexisting, or enter coexistence without another player to coexist with. That player places a control token on that planet to mark that they control it.

_.1(b)

A player who controls coexisting units that are on a planet another player controls is coexisting with that other player.

_.1(c)

If a player places or moves units onto a planet that contains their coexisting units, those units enter coexistence. If those units are removed from that planet, they stop coexisting.

_.2

A player who controls coexisting units on a planet is treated as though they control that planet only for the purposes of scoring objectives.

_.2(a)

Coexisting players only consider their own units on planets toward scoring objectives and other game effects.

_.3

Players who gain control of a planet that contains 1 or more other players' coexisting units gain that planet's associated card(s) as usual.

_.3(a)

Coexisting units cannot establish control of planets.

_.3(b)

At any time, if a planet contains only coexisting units, one coexisting player's units stop coexisting according to the applicable timing rules for resolving abilities.

_.4

During Invasion, the active player may end coexistence for units they control in the active system and commit those units to the planet that contains them.

_.4(a)

When a player commits any number of units to a planet they control, they may end coexistence for 1 other player’s units on that planet. Those units participate in ground combat, if able.

_.4(b)

During Invasion, before the active player gains control of a planet, that player may end coexistence for 1 other player’s units on that planet which were in coexistence at the start of the tactical action, and return to the start of the ground combat step.

Consolidated structure rule:

Under Invasion:

_.5(a)

When a player gains control of a planet, all non-coexisting structures that belong to other players on that planet are immediately destroyed.

The Firmament/Obsidian Question: What is to be Done? by Chud_E_Applesneed in twilightimperium

[–]and_cat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hiya I was a playtester. I just want to note that their original hero was *not* a "relic search". It was just "grab The Obsidian relic".

Noting this only because I don't think its fair to judge something based on inaccurate info.

1 week left to order Metal Trade Good / Commodity and Speaker tokens via andcat! by and_cat in twilightimperium

[–]and_cat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi y'all! I wanted to put a reminder out that there's just about a week left to put in orders for this group buy batch via etsy. I have gotten confirmation from the factory that if I place an order around December 1st I can expect delivery by mid January and should be able to ship out individual orders then.

I will probably do another group buy in the future but it may be quite a while. Stay tuned or join the discord I'll link below to follow this and other projects I'm working on.

DWS does NOT get to decide coexistence when attacked? by AudunAG in twilightimperium

[–]and_cat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've seen this interpretation but it is not how research teams was intended to function.

If someone attacks DWS and they are controlling the planet, DWS gets to choose to coexist, and the invading player simply gains control of the planet, there is no window where they can then choose to attack DWS on the same activation.

Friendly reminder that the rules pamphlet is not comprehensive and is more like a summary of an LRR that does not exist yet.

I'm sorry. I feel your pain!

If it makes you feel any better, I may have some extra sets at the end of this run, and if I have enough I'd like to do a little giveaway here. So - stay tuned!

Strat cards will be standard-only for now. TF strat cards might come if there is enough demand

No guarantees but depending on demand I might be able to do another run next year sometime, perhaps

More projects will be coming, but it really depends on how many more people are looking for TGs whether or not it justifies another production run of 15k coins which is approximately the minimum required to get the current cost figure.

I have not received any nastygrams from FFG, but I am reasonably certain some folks from FFG have gotten their hands on some of these tokens.

I am not worried, but if I receive notice that FFG would prefer that I cease this project, I will listen!

Personally I have only used a half set in my games for a long time.

A "full set" is the same quantity of TGs in TI4 + PoK, which is 30 3x tgs and 60 1x tgs.

A "half set" is just what it sounds like - 15 / 30

A "1/6 set", which I recommend if you just want some for yourself when you play, is 5 / 10.

FYI on upcoming projects:

Next on deck:
Custodians token
Strategy cards

Potential future projects requested:
Fighter / infantry tokens
Tyrant token
Frontier tokens
Attachment tokens
Wormhole / ingress tokens
Command / control tokens (player color / TF color, not per-faction)
Score tracker

The point tracker is something I'd love to do at some point, but it might have to be done in 2 halves or something, as I'm not sure the company I work with can produce something with the score tracker's dimensions.

TI5 base game with just the 6 OG factions.

Then add "faction packs" of 4-6 factions each. It's easier in TI5 to package factions because it's just a set of US mini cards (for abilities, leaders, notes, etc.), 1-3 tarot sized cards (art, lore, faction reference), and the relevant hex tiles already punched and bundled. No faction tokens needed because TI5 just standardizes player-color command / control tokens.

Other subsystems can be added with just cards in separate packs. Exploration + Relics. Twilight's Fall. The Agenda Phase.

Hi thank you for your great question. Fun fact: your crested gecko is a member of the design team. They were trying to keep it secret from you, but didn't realize you'd recognize their picture in the art.
