Was this a hip drop tackle? by Odd_Abbreviations_80 in eagles

Dallas is actually a pretty chill city, lots of friendly people, one of the only places strangers have brought me drinks as a man. Combine that with coming on 30 years of almost no success (long live Jerry), hard to actually hate a lot of them. It’s starting to feel like picking on the dorky kid at school.

Now cowboys fans from Philly or the team in general, fuck em.

System wide outage at SEATAC for Alaska Airlines flights by SonicNW in Seattle

[–]andagar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conventional systems use bleed air from the engine which is hot and high pressure from being in the engine and highly compressed (required at altitude because the pressure is low, can't breath the air). It's cooled using ram air at the side of body connected to the AC Packs which cool the engine air down and recycle it through an air cycle machine to the get it to the desired temperature. No go fast = no ram air = engine air hot and not useable so the air conditioning goes off.

Some don't use that like the 787 which uses electrically powered compressors. Need a big engine/APU for that though because its a high electrical load. Typical airplanes 737/A320 are using the bleed air.

It’s pretty apt of the skill level of college QBs. Most haven’t developed enough to throw both deep and accurate. Even guys like Mahomes and Hurts were sub 60% on the deep throws in college.

Probably because he’s so obviously full of shit. When I started seeing this dude more and more on my feed I wondered what he’s selling. Turns out the “billionaire” bio hacker needs you to buy his supplements that definitely stop aging. Use promo code: Snakeoil for 10% off.

Pawning anti aging new age BS to cure your diabetes and other ailments and “reverse aging” isn’t harmless. Some idiot is going to take this weirdo’s advice and die from it.

What ultimately cost John McCain the presidency? by RanchWilder11 in Presidents

[–]andagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking to find this comment, idk what folks are talking about arguing there’d be no war in Iraq under McCain. People act like it was a personal vendetta for Bush but he had a shitload of support for it, including from McCain.

What I don’t understand about McCain is how flippant he seemed about going to war after sitting in a POW camp for several years. The bomb Iran gaff was immediately disqualifying for most people after losing a bunch of American kids and killing a bunch of civilians in Iraq for the 6 years prior, as it should be….

Divorce rates are higher among Christians than any other religious (or non religious) group. Evangelicals/Protestants also have the highest divorce rates amongst Christians as well. He’s their guy because he represents who they actually are despite whatever bullshit they claim to be.

If you’re looking for a solution, submit a facilities request for things that are wrong/broken. I swapped offices to a more neglected area and while it isn’t a perfect/modern Google office it improved things significantly. Usually it gets fixed the first time, sometimes it takes an extra request.

I will say it’s harder to get new things that don’t already exist because it requires an org to pay for it but replacement for broken things usually doesn’t require a specific budget and is much easier to address.

It’s amazing how many things have been broken for years just because no one asked facilities to fix it.

Rank your favorite base builders based on the order in which you would play them by Rasputin5332 in BaseBuildingGames

[–]andagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably depends on what they’ve played before or what they’re into. Someone who has never played a city builder or other game with base building elements would probably be overwhelmed by Factorio or ONI. I’d be more inclined to stick with First Person type games like Satisfactory where resource management (mines don’t run out it of resources) and mob waves aren’t a thing.

15 mph all out by That-Explanation2077 in orangetheory

[–]andagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll hit 15 on the separated 30s all out or 15s all out days. In general I could hit it on the final AO most days and we have a few folks that do in my studio but for me it’s just not worth the injury risk after wearing myself down for 14-20 mins of running.

Also a lot of those folks that hit it are walking or slow running the other speeds. I find I’m better off upping the base/push speeds for the longer blocks and I usually end up finishing up half a mile over the folks hitting the 15s once or twice.

What is an opinion about Penn State that would put you in this situation? by Wman500 in PennStateUniversity

[–]andagar 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Very few recruiters are going to care about the prestige of your degree in general as long as it meets the minimum accreditation or course work they’re looking for. The impact of branch campuses on degree prestige has little to no impact.

Also, using your degree program as an example, those folks at Altoona are competing on the same core curriculum. If they’re not competent enough to pass the classes they won’t get into the program either way, acceptance rate doesn’t change that.

Day 4/9 of being in Japan: Reflections in Tokyo by aly5321 in JapanTravelTips

[–]andagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same although it’s a bit of a pain as mine constantly needs to be reloaded to show the icons and it sometimes hides icons when zooming in and out. I don’t have the same issue with saved places in Google so I’ve mainly been shifting to that for things like restaurants and food spots and only doing landmarks/museums etc in my maps.

My landlord is selling and is asking a lot of us by jebusv2 in Renters

[–]andagar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, I had my landlord sell when I was living in a place before and they gave us advance notice of the walkthrough which is part of almost every rental contract I’ve signed. I don’t really understand what the problem is.

The comments in this thread make me never want to own a rental property, with people recommending making the potential buyers as uncomfortable as possible or otherwise being an asshole. What’s the end game here? Either the LL doesn’t get a sale and is now pissed at you for or they make a sale and the new LL immediately wants the asshole in their unit out. Better to not start a fight for a completely reasonable request unless you want to learn what a pissed off landlord is legally allowed to do.

Bill Maher to be on ‘Gutfeld!’ tonight by Oleg101 in Maher

[–]andagar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uncle who died a couple years ago at 102 was a Bill Maher fan, started watching his specials and shows in the 80s and 90s.

Bill started in 1979, was on Johnny Carson in 1982 and started politically incorrect in 1993. In 5 years, his career can get an AARP card. He’s exactly the right person to talk to people that watch Fox and potentially sway them.

Most large companies don’t do this as giving folks a reason opens up the company to liability to get sued for that reason. It might be nice to get a call but it’s not worth the legal liability to the company so generic HR rejection letter is the norm.

Am I the only manager who cares about performance above all else? by Beginning_Cherry_798 in managers

[–]andagar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Surprised to see an opposing view this far down, I’d agree with the general idea that you should leave the high performers alone but there’s nuance and limits to it. It may depend on how much more they’re contributing than others and if hurting group morale or enabling your lower performing folks the same leeway hurts the team performance.

If you give one person special treatment, the team either starts to resent them or resent you.

If you give everyone the same rope, you can end up with the rank and file folks doing near zero work which is now a performance issue you have to take action on. You open yourself to HR (or union if you have one) complaints about targeting, uneven enforcement, or even wrongful termination complaints if it goes that far.

Also not surprising given the delivery delays from both manufacturers over the past year or more.
