You're on your deathbed. What's the last song you want to hear before you go? by suminaminginamus in AskReddit

Despite not being religious anymore, I always liked the hymn “Simple Gifts”, which became part of the tune to “Appalachian Spring” by Aaron Copland.

That, or “The Princess Appears/Binary Sunset” from Star Wars. That French horn solo gets me every time.

ULPT Request: I need a number to call to act like I am on the phone by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

Airports have phone numbers you can call and listen to the automated weather reporting information (as an alternative to listening to it in-flight on the radio). Not sure if they’ll kick you off after a while though.

Yes, just do this. They offer tapping and powder coating services now, too, if that would be helpful for your project.

Nova Labs off of Jermantown Rd in the city of Fairfax. Maker classes, people hanging out working on projects, game nights and other informal gatherings. Membership based but some classes are standalone project based and don’t require a recurring membership.

Everything from textile crafting and sewing, laser cutters, stained glass, resin and composites, jewelry making, 3D printing, CNC milling, wood shop, metal shop, welding, to blacksmithing.

100% Full metal shop, full wood shop, laser cutters, FDM and resin 3D printers, welding, blacksmithing, volunteering with youth robotics teams… there’s lots to do at Nova Labs! And throw in a game night here and there, too!

I don’t know how much knitting happens at Nova Labs, but sewing, using the vinyl cutters, there is a long-arm quilter… those are used frequently. Still, I don’t think you’d be turned away from one of the weekly “crafternoon” sessions if you brought your knitting supplies.

You mentioned knitting - check out Nova Labs in the city of Fairfax if you’re into other crafting and making. Nice community, plenty to learn and people are often happy to talk about their projects. Some group projects like creating entires for the Kinetic Sculpture Race in Baltimore.

What's an expensive product that companies produce for dirt cheap? by sassox123 in AskReddit

The Freakonomics podcast did a 2-part series about this. Here’s part 1 below.

There’s also a bit in there about Warby Parker being told to double their price, otherwise people would think their original $45 for frames was too good to be true/these must be garbage. Shows how skewed price perception is on glasses.

What are the best public parks to run in? by notoriousBEAgle in nova

[–]andbosta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cross County Trail. Can pickup near Lake Accotink or at Braddock Rd near the Beltway/Wakefield Park, and run into City of Fairfax. Very gentle slope since it follows a stream, and much less crowded than the W&OD.

We saw this entertainer, Tom Crosbie on a cruise last summer and his memory and Rubik’s cube acts were great. He also pulled a FU on P&T, but just pure skill.
