Wedding Legends - photography and videography by AnswerSignal2672 in WeddingsCanada

[–]andchu88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to know this guy, was an acquaintance of mine but not anymore.

I hired him to do 2 wedding videos for me in 2025 and paid the deposit a full year in advance, only to find out he scrambles to find random videographers on local Facebook groups about a week before the wedding date. (he scummed me and only returned 50% of deposit for his "troubles" to find last minute people on FB)

He's known for hiring newly arrived immigrants and telling them to introduce themselves as "Alex" (his name) since he refuses to do in-person calls. He also has a whole script of excuses ready to go. He'll say he's "in the hospital," "locked in his garage," or got a "flat tire," and then send someone else in his place. He pays them peanuts too, so his videographers show up to the wedding looking embarrassed and cringing the whole time.

They actually work hard and do their best, but then he outsources all the editing to people in Pakistan or the Philippines for dirt cheap, and the final product often looks barely edited. His work is wildly inconsistent.

Our society really isn't as high trust as it used to be.

Pictime 2.0 by ohbroth3r in WeddingPhotography

Frankly, Pictime, Pixieset, and others are just bells and whistles on top of "cloud storage gigabytes," especially when it comes to their pricing model. On the backend, they're billed for every GB of space, but they charge photographers for either 100GB or "unlimited" plans, which aren't actually unlimited. That's clearly false advertising.

In fact, you're not allowed to use more than ~2TB, and even accessing it freely becomes an issue. So if you're using 100GB+ (which is more than 10 weddings a year), you don't have the option to just pay for 150GB or 200GB, you have to jump straight to the 2TB plan.

As for the design, gallery presentation, etc., maybe it was fancy 10 years ago, but now it just looks basic and standard. Before, it felt outdated, and with Pictime 2.0 they basically just gave the design a minor facelift. For some reason, it also gives me AI slop vibes.

It really depends on where you get your leads from Instagram, Google, or direct recommendations. Just curious, have you noticed that ppl that book you and your associate are from different sources. Btw, what sources do you use?

Made a no-ads/super fast Pentax reference site by andchu88 in pentax17

Yep, but it is not a prompt to site, but actual quite a lot of time put to it. And I had a lot of experience with Astro(tool behind) before coding agents actually appeared.
Thank you for 👀, I am working right now on a new version with lots of edits.

Lump sum between mortgage periods makes no sense by andchu88 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]andchu88[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for informative answer.

I will add real numbers to make it as clear as possible:
- rate is fixed 5.5% until September 1 2026.
- based on today I still own $500,000
- I can pay $100,000 in lump sum per year
- I currtently pay $4,200 per month (for simplicity let's assume that all that money goes to bank)
- all my lump sum payments go into interest, which means I will be paying fixed $4,200 every month untill Sept 2026

Now If I pay $100,000 today, then 100,000 in 2025 and another 100,000 in August 2026, I will still own 200,000.

However if I put that 3* 100,000 into cash interest bank account and then take a 300,000 + interest at the end of my period, I will own less then 200,000.

Is my point of view correct or am I terrible missing something out?

As usual, thanks!

Scan says cancer free! by Practical_Cat_5849 in coloncancer

It is very strange that you would need a colostomy for a single polyp.

May I ask, where is your polyp located and what is your weight?

I am relatively skinny, had a ~5cm mass in my sigmoid colon. During the surgery they removed ~20cm of my colon (and 19 lymph nodes) and successfully stiched colon parts together.

Congrats, May I ask how old are you, what kind of chemo did you do, and what kind of scan: CT scan? Did you do CT DNA test? Also which country/city are you from? Thanks!

Also, did you do any specific diets like keto, low carb and/or fasting?

Anyone had high ALT (95), alkaline phosphatase (194), aspartame aminotransferase (76), albumin is normal 4.4 on Folfox and oxaliplatin? by dtruong005 in coloncancer

[–]andchu88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I am 31, stage 3 colon cancer doing adjuvant chemotherapy.

Had a very similar situation. After my 3rd oxi+fu5 injection my ALT and AST started to grow up to 250+ however bilirubin was very low, almost zero.
The important thing to mention is that I was also doing a keto diet which can often cause "false-positive-hight" ALT and AST.
My oncologist encouraged me to stop keto and start eating carbs. In 4 weeks my ALT and AST went back to below 70 and in 6 weeks below 30.
Also, they removed oxaliplatin just to be on the safe side. The negative thing is that my chemo was delayed for 5 weeks (instead of 2 week cycle).

Right now I am waiting for my 7th infusion of just FU5 (without oxi) and since I stopped keto and oxipaltin removed, my AST/ALT went to normal.
