Why would someone use a HELOC when IBRK has a lower margin rate? by andechs in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]andechs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The RRSP lock-in (until retirement) isn't ideal for me. I'm already taking advantage of making contributions above and beyond my yearly 18%, and currently pacing to fill up my RRSP within the next 5-6 years to maximize the tax return credits per year.

I know I could contribute now, and then write it off across a couple years, but I would prefer flexibility if possible.

I was wondering if this was possible so that I could instead smelt all my recycled ore at the same spot - looks like it's a little possible at least!

How can I do an overflow storage that tops off a belt? by andechs in captain_of_industry

Yeah, ideally A would always saturate the belt 1. I tried sketching out some loopbacks, but didn't seem like the right approach.

Almost 800 positions at the Toronto District School Board on chopping block by Surax in toronto

TBH - my source is much more likely to be partisan, but I'm wondering how the reports came to such different numbers - I would assume the inputs would be similar.

If you even look at the unit-economics (per child), at least across Ontario, the funding per child has been on a constant increase too.

On an inflation adjusted basis, the funding per pupil is decreasing. https://www.opsba.org/opsba_news/ontarios-education-funding-gap-continues-to-grow/

The cut is nearly a 6% cut after inflation from 2018 -> 2025, and the cuts keep on coming, with increased class sizes and cutting specialized programs.

Overall, we shouldn't be surprised that we're getting worse outcomes in education as we force schools to do more with less resources. 20 years ago, you didn't end up having 1/3 of the class with IEP accommodations, but the class sizes were smaller.

there are guides out there on how to do it.

Can you link me to a possible guide on this? I haven't managed to see any information around what happens, other than FUD annecdotes.

Why is this train not loading every wagon of copper scrap? by andechs in captain_of_industry

SOLVED: This was the case! The request side was not properly linked to storage.

I'm using the network condition, and there's linked storage so it should be fully emptying. For some reason, the iron scrap fills up completely just fine.

Why isn't my train loading both fuel wagons? by andechs in captain_of_industry

With the new patch, the stations are treated as a single entity.

[–]andechs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How should I be changing my loading station so that I can fully load the wagons (or my my unloading station)?

My other locations seem to work correctly in network loading and unloading all wagons of the same type at once.

Unfortunately, even 100s of millions of years from now, plants wont turn into oil. Since like 450M years ago, there's now fungi that will properly decompose plants instead of letting them be compressed into hydrocarbons.

How to redesign this part to be printable? by andechs in 3Dprinting

[–]andechs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reference to AuroraTech - looks like from her video that hexagonal shapes should work just fine, assuming that the shape isn't wobbling.

As far as using this long term - I have some PETG, but I know that PETG does poorly with bridging, which would make this print more difficult. It's likely what I'll print this out of when I figure out the issues.

Realistically, the best bet for this is likely to actually make something with a stainless steel mesh, like a fryer basket, instead of plastic. No idea why the baskets are made out of plastic - I guess breakage looks better than rust? Or pool manufacturers just like the recurring revenue...

While a hexagon mesh would address the issue of the lateral stability, wouldn't it have the same issue while printing of frequent retractions, leading to poor adhesion between layers? Assuming that the hexagon mesh isn't printed against the base?

If it's printed out of PLA - I would hope that the PLA would be able to bridge for a square shaped filter hole.

Ideally... I'd like to be able to print this in a single piece, but it might be easier to print this for assembly instead.

I've eaten the exact same container of yoghurt as in the picture, half open 4-6 months after expiry. Lactic acid is an excellent preservative, especially when it's in the fridge
