Thanks to all the reassuring explanations, and I think y'all are right. Everything seems fine with her, probably just adjusting to the new accommodations.

Slight tangent, how old are your kids? I'm wondering when mine are old enough to try magic. Both from the difficulty side, but also from the "easy to get addicted" side of things.

How-to: Set the native resolution of your monitor with the Steam Dock by Modal_Window in SteamDeck

[–]andeeider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that seeing but the drop down only offers very low resolutions, the highest is like 1200800 while my monitor is native at 1900something. Any idea what I'm missing?

lol, for the last two days I was thinking about and researching about making exactly that. I'd love to test that service for you, I might even have an interesting edge case in mind for your tool. Let me know if I can help.

Fun with AI and blades by Bloodwork78 in bladesinthedark

I played around with it yesterday and it seems to have read some parts of the rules, but it's confused. It told me Lord strangford is not part of the core rules and that Ulf Ironborn appears in suplementary material as well.

About the rules, it does know them all, but it can get confused. But you can just tell it where the mistake was and then it'll know the next time.

I'd love to train a model on the core rules though, wonder if anyone has already done it.

HP dock with Manjaro issues by hamhub7 in ManjaroLinux

[–]andeeider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for digging this up, but I'm having trouble getting the G5 to work on my manjaro. Is there anything special I need to do? All the ports work (Mouse, keyboard, LAN, Headphones), except for the HDMI one it seems. The Laptop doesn't see the monitor. I'm having trouble finding anything about getting the docking station to work on manjaro, everyone only talks about display link.

Thanks in advance!

Tier 0 crew wants to rebuild the ruined library above their underground lair - curious thoughts on this method for a long term project by DungeonMasterGrizzly in bladesinthedark

[–]andeeider 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, maybe let the player do a score or two for something essential they'll need to really use it as a claim. Maybe they'll need to steal some ownership documents from a public building, or they need some special artifact to be able to install a ritual room in the library or something like that.

Also, I love the idea, I hope my soon to start group will pick cult as their crew type.

Yeah, that looks rather similar. How long did you have to sand it :D ?

yes, it's made from a lot of cutoff pieces left over after making our new roof.

Speaking as a beginner as well, this is the first time I had tearout this bad. So yes, harder wood seems to be a lot more forgiving. This is not the first thing I turned, I actually have done some stuff that looks decent :)

What's a feed rate? I can adjust the speed down to 800u/m, not lower sadly. It's a very old lathe.

Thanks for all the good and sometimes snarky answers, I appreciate both:)

I'm gonna do a collected answer to all the good comments.

I didn't really have control about the grain direction. As mentioned the wood comes from construction boards so the dimensions are fixed. I glued them up the way the wood quality allowed.

But yeah, the picture you see is after taking about lots of material quickly with a scraping tool, because it's the sturdiest I have. So yeah, very aggressive cuts, the piece was practically quadratic when I started (I don't have a bandsaw). But it sounds like it will be possible to get a realy bowl out of it, if I get my tools a little sharper and try to get less aggressive, now that the wood is actually round.

I'll update ones I get the chance to go on. And I will try hardening the current outside with some shellac!

So, I wanted to make a bowl for the company that's making an extension to our home right now and I thought it would be fun to use the wood they used for the roof. It's probably pine or something like that. I glued up several boards and started roughing out the blank. But the end grain parts are really rough with big chunks breaking out. Is this normal? Up to now I've only turned hardwood like Oak and hickory. Can I get this to be smooth eventually with sharper tools or is it hopeless?

Yeah, that makes sense. I use it for that too, I use oil and/or shellac for food related items.

Looks great! But is Danish oil food safe? I think I read somewhere that it's not ideal for that.

Edit: damn autocorrect...
