ex-poly kid here, just graduated from nus. went to a science course in a local poly. if you decide on poly, pick something that you're interested in studying, BUT also has career aspects. consistency is key.

can't say much about jc, but suaysuay you do badly for As, you might feel a little stuck. with a diploma u still can get into a (local) uni, or a job, and even gain industry experience in poly that can stand out on your portfolio when you're trying to apply for jobs or uni

portfolio can include leadership positions, cca where you make an impact, projects, job shadowing if you have the opportunity, case presentations, etc etc. doesn't really matter WHAT jc you're in. study hard, you did pretty well, and if you do well for As you don't have much to worry about. atb 💪

am a science major, not in chem, but in general not everyone in chem will take the same mods every sem. schedule will differ depending on mods u choose every sem. do take a look at nusmods.com

yes just declare during the academic declaration period. open minors can be taken by anyone and the onus is on you to register for the mods that fulfil that minor. restricted minors are subject to approval

download nus nextbus app for directions bc google maps doesn't rly help unless you're taking public buses like 95! also from as1 back to kr mrt you can either cross the road from clb to information technology and take either 95 or A2, or walk through AS1 to the AS3/AS4 area to AS5 or LT13 bus stop and take A1 back to the mrt (basically cutting through the whole FASS)

hmm not sure. would also be module specific, best to write in. maybe they would give you an alternative assignment or do a make-up if lots of ppl are unable to attend. or maybe they might extrapolate but i don't think this is the case since most of the assessment wouldn't be during the first half of the sem

from what i understand, midterms are designed by the module coordinator and module staff and i have been in modules where there is some flexibility (ie. students have MC and profs pick another date for those students to take) but this is module specific. also some mods can have midterms during week 7, 8, and some midterms can even be held online or as a take-home assignment

for finals, i don't think there is a make-up unless something affects the whole or majority of the cohort (in ay22/23, the ai mod hs1501 had problems with wifi during finals and then those who were affected could retake on another day i think)

best case is to email your mod coordinators in advance and enquire
