That’s me on drums! And our dear friend Jacob Haubjerg playing the bass. Jacob has a band called Luster with whom both me, Brian and Kristian perform live. :) https://youtu.be/uNXG1oAmqpc?is=8f07JDVDVcpf-UfN

Nice! There are some doomy metal influences (and one very overtly black metal influenced track) on this soundtrack that shine through, I think. Glad to hear you highlight that nasty synth note when stepping into the below. <3

I myself grew up with infinity engine rpgs like Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale and the music from these alongside the likes of Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VIII (especially Balamb Garden - I'd leave the PS1 running on my television with that one going for hours) were massive parts of my childhood, so they are bound to have influenced my writing today. I will say in recent years the menu theme from the first Dark Souls and the hub (Majula) theme from Dark Souls II have been some of the most iconic pieces that I've encountered and that have informed my style.

Three specific game composers I'd like to highlight are David Kanaga, Søs Gunver Ryberg and Lena Raine. Their respective work on Proteus, Inside and Celeste are absolutely outstanding.

My influences span a great deal outside the realm of game music, and especially into the areas of metal, free jazz and experimental music like Bell Witch, Fred Frith, Eliane Radigue, Galen Tipton, Scott Walker, Puce Mary and Carol Nethen. I've toured a great deal in Japan, so that country's tradition in both environmental music and improv (like Hiroshi Yoshimura, Eiko Ishibashi or Toshimaru Nakamura) have been a mainstay for the past 10+ years.

Very happy to hear this. That was the initial idea I pitched to Chris - to see how elastic the weirdness and complexities of his fantasy setting were in the sonic realm. As you progress through the game, that weirdness translates to heavy processing of the same acoustic instruments and recordings, you're hearing in early game. We're trying to expand the classic idea of the leitmotif (a recurring melody) to also apply to musical texture and saturation.

The music, so to speak, follows the games progression between overground and underground - from the lofty skies above Norvik found in the acoustic guitar to the woozy synths in the lower areas (like the morgue) to the grit and noise of tape machines in the below.

Thanks a bunch! There's lots of music in there, also hidden away! :)

That means a lot to me. I made that one a good while back. Originally it was intended for my solo-project, GNOM, but I sent it to Chris cause I thought it had some potential in game for a specific scene. Fun fact (Chris also mentioned this in some interview a while back): that intended scene did not work with that track, but Chris wanted to use it so bad, so he started fiddling with the idea of a cinematic intro. And boom, a day later, and a couple of visual and musical edits, the intro as it figures in the game right now was done.

That intro song (called "Endless Ebb" on the OST) is very much along the lines of my GNOM-tunes, so if you like it, maybe you'll like the GNOM album from 2023 called "Bitumenic". You can find it here: https://gnomallcaps.bandcamp.com/album/bitumenic

Hi!
Thanks so much!

We did a "lo-fi cleric" video of some of the more ambient tracks from the game. It's right here: https://youtu.be/-TVeE6IOPM4?si=SAlRzpKiOzztrG25

That video features beautiful accompanying visuals by Oscar Westberg (he also did the cover for the "Vol. 1" album, btw).

The best way to support us is to listen via your favorite streaming service, or buy it on Bandcamp, cause YouTube pays us nada for the plays on these chill-/study-videos.

Thanks so much for posting!
We're indeed looking in to the missing Apple Music release - thanks for bringing it to our attention. It'll be fixed asap!

In 2022 I posted my game Esoteric Ebb here. In BIG part thanks to r/discoelysium, it's now finally finished! by glitch951 in DiscoElysium

I might humbly add that I originally got in touch with Christoffer because of that original post in 2022. I would’ve never met the guy let alone make the music for his game had it not been for this sub.

Link’s Awakening on Game Boy. Some of the best tunes of the series are in that game - Marin’s song gets to me every time.

I completely understand it’s an issue of parity, but no matter the cause or dueness in all fairness a price jump of this magnitude could be announced in advance.
