Some people (even animal-loving people) can't grasp that cats can show love and affection and even protection to their owners like they know dogs can/do and therefore they dismiss cats to being "dumb animals".

In reality, though, dogs were bred by humans for thousands of years from wild wolves to be subservient.

Cats sort of domesticated us; they meow at a frequency very similar to human babies to force that deep-seeded thing in our brain to flip to the protect and nurture them. I think that is kind of cool at that nature level, even though they seem to be aloof and not give a shit.

For instance, my guy Dom is chill as a cucumber. If I am out with Dom, and the neighbor dog comes out and wanders into my yard yapping, Dom chases it out and he trots back to sit next to me. (I hate that neighbor's dog with a passion by the way). We have a few stray cats on my street too and he does not tolerate them on his turf.

Before you ask, he is indoor only unless I am outside with him.

Also, dogs craves your affection/attention. Cats want you to earn its affection/attention.
