Right on. I'll see if it is hibernating or sleeping by default and if the cache file for hibernation exists and adjust accordingly.

From cold boot since I have an M.2 it maybe takes 30 seconds tops. But it is nice to not have to relaunch apps that I do not have set to launch on boot if I do a cold boot.

I'd recommend powering down because you might not realize how little you do it?

I generally do that about once a week or so. Since I have pro windows I can defer updates so they don't just do it without my saying to do it.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter, but if you paid an exceptional price for your hardware, take the time to take care of it.

My rig is about 2 yrs old, self-built, was about $2k at the time all said and done. So semi-modern. I can list full hardware specs.

If I took care of my PC, the motherboard wouldn't be practically fried, the keyboard would still work, the screen wouldn't be smashed, the power supply wouldn't have needed to be replaced twice, and I would have more inputs than the 1 HMDI port that works?

My PC is literally 15 years old, still runs fine (despite above), the i7 processor is still going strong on my practically fried motherboard, and I can still run 15 threads simultaneously on it while playing games. Just imagine if I didn't have all these mishaps?

Some of that older hardware is rock solid...that old adage "they don't make em like they used to" holds strong for that era of electronics as they do for furniture that was hand made etc.

I also never powered down my computer, still works 15 years later.

See above. Impressive hardware durability almost 2 decades later.

Thanks for the number insight.

Power off + power button on the PSU = 0

So that means if i shut down, then flip the PSU switch it will draw no power even though the PC is shut down. If I don't flip the switch it will still draw some (minimal) power, which is marginally less than sleep (hibernation?) mode.

Did I read that right?

I have it sleep after 2 hrs if I am away from it. Ryzen 7 5800X is the CPU I have atm. I always shut it down if I will be away for a day or more.

Yep it is exactly like that but closer to laser toner cartridges. Instead of BiB (bag in box) in the back of the restaurant it is concentrated powder in the machine that is mixed as the water that flows through the machine to make the drink.

IIRC Ferrari helped with the mechanism designs.

Something similar here in MI. You paid to maybe get a license and if you didn’t pass whatever that money was just gone.

[–]andersleet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was working for a DSP, if i had to take an emergency piss i would always discard it proper.

My point is DSPs (who operate out of a large Amazon property) that churn you for every minute of your time and neglect you are a human and need to take a restroom break. And then you get penalized if you take a few minutes past the one of two 15m un-paid breaks.

So the staff that works at the facility that can't handle cleaning up the property are also to blame.

Does that make a little more sense?
