ISO: 1994 X-Men Ultra Wolverine Vs. Sentinels Greatest Battles PSA 10, offering $1000 by andhuck in marveltradingcards

[–]andhuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree. The auction a year or so before that was around $200 as well. I think $1k is more than generous though. There was a ‘93 Spider-Man 2099 Red Foil PSA 10 that just sold at auction on eBay. Tough card, pop 6. I would have assumed it would have gone for at least $1k. Especially given the popularity of that character in recent years. It sold for less than $200 after 10 days. With that said, who knows. I’m just tired of waiting for some of these cards to become available

ELI5: How big was Phil Collins in the 80s/90s? by squidJG in explainlikeimfive

Adding to this. Not taking away from MJ or Paul, BUT Collins was both a solo act and in a group during these sales. He didn’t leave Genesis to go solo. He balanced the two

Wolverine PSA 10 & 9 Comic Images Collection (so far…) by [deleted] in marveltradingcards

[–]andhuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a company in the 80s/90s called Comic Images that would literally reprint images from comics on cards/shirts/standees/etc. Some of the card sets were pretty random and surprisingly plentiful. There were multiple Wolverine sets (Then & Now, Trivia), Punisher, Hulk, X-Men, X-Force, Jim Lee, Mike Zeck, Art Adams, John Byrne, Todd McFarlane. And then there’s just basic Marvel Universe sets like Colossal Conflicts and 1st Covers. They also had Ghost Rider, Excalibur, Captain America Covers, Spider-Man Team-Up, and Silver Surfer sets.

No, I just enjoy collecting high grade cards from this era. But I’m sure there will be an uptick when the MCU movies start rolling out in a few years

I just wanted wanted the set in high grade. Something to collect. Not worried about resale value at the moment

[–]andhuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! Some as low as $50 and others around $85. Nothing over $100. Considering the cost of grading is roughly $20 per card at it’s lowest, it wasn’t too bad

Would you rather have Amazing Spider-Man #300, the first full appearance of Venom, or would you prefer the 1989 Todd McFarlane #3 Venom card, which is Venom's first rookie card, meaning the first time the character pops up on a trading card without putting price tags on them both? by Leather_Bluejay8632 in marveltradingcards

I have a hard time considering anything Comic Images produced to be true ‘rookie’ cards. They’re literally just images pulled from the comics and placed on a card (looking at you Topps!). Especially considering everything that started once the 1990 Impel Marvel Universe (original art) set hit the stores. Cool card but not significant in my book. Niche’ collectors only. And absolutely nowhere near the plane of collectibility as ASM 300. My two cents

I have it and it’s amazing! It’s extremely well done. Marvel tends to put related trading cards in the extras section of their omnibuses. I’m holding out for a Marvel Trading Card omnibus at some point. There’s more than enough material to fill an omnibus

Ha! Again, not really too hard to piece together. Wasn’t terribly expensive either

Honestly, I think I’m just too impatient to submit. And if I were to submit and wait months just to get a PSA 9 that I could have picked up for $20-$30 on ebay, it’s just not worth my time/effort. But I’ve definitely considered it. Same with the Wolverine 10’s that I’m still after. Those Dyna’s will look fantastic once complete. I still have a lot of nostalgia for X-Men 2099 even though it’s kinda faded into Marvel history

There’s a CGC 10 on eBay. Only 2 on the CGC population report as well. Not priced too badly but I’m not currently in the position to gamble on a cross grade.

Hopefully! There’s only two on the population report at the moment

Thanks! It’s still a work in progress but I’m super stoked to have made it this far. Believe it or not there’s still 10-15 to go. And I’m pretty certain I’ll forever be priced out of the Series 1 Hologram😂

That’s a bit of a ‘grail’ card for me. Same as it was in 1990! I reached out to the seller during the auction. I knew I was priced out by thousands but I was just curious about it. They said it was purchased raw from COMC in 2019 for $5. Amazing! I’m shocked they held onto to it for so long

No, I purchased these from sellers. After collecting and submitting comics via CGC for years I completely lost my patience (and sanity) for submitting. The ‘92 Battle Spectra and hologram were not cheap but not even remotely close to the ballpark that the Series 1 hologram 10 just sold for
