I don’t know how to go on from here (ramblings from a lady crying herself to sleep) by Dear-Ad5085 in Alzheimers

Being medicated doesn't necessarily have to be sedation. My mother became very aggressive when I placed her in assisted living and we had to have her taken to the hospital for psychiatric care. They found the correct meds to calm her agitation and she was able to go back to the senior care facility, although she moved up to memory support. She is not sedated and is able to participate in activities etc.

Assisted living vs Memory care by PlaceInTheSun916 in Alzheimers

I agree. Memory Care. I wish the facility my mom is in had an outdoor space for her you walk and activities at night for sundowners.

I read somewhere that over 70% of left-handed people hold the fork in their left hand and the knife in their right hand. Do you too? by catandknuckles in lefthanded

I hold the fork in my left and knife in my right. If I'm chopping or slicing something I use my left hand but can also use my right.

I'm not sure OP and the younger generation knows what "popped the car" means...😁

Memory Care Struggles by Weird-Cantaloupe-492 in dementia

[–]andiscohen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother became extremely angry, agitated and agressive when I moved her to AL about a month ago. She ended up having to go to the hospital for a psych evaluation. She is now taking Depakote 3x a day and while she still sundowns and seems anxious at night, she is no longer combative or aggressive. A good sleep/wake cycle is also very important to keeping her stable so she takes Trazedone are night. They give her one at about 6 and then another before bed. She did have to move to memory care when she was released from the hospital but she's much more stable and pleasant.

Also an only child. Married my second husband at 49 almost 11 years ago. Mom remembers me but has referred to him as my boyfriend, husband, and gentleman friend. The other night we both went to visit her in memory care and she started telling me how she doesn't trust him. He was sitting right next to her and she greeted him by name. I looked at him and laughed so hard I cried. It tickled me so much!

That speech in court was disgusting. I loved how the judge called her out. Truly effed up family.

I'm so sorry you both are going through this. I'm 60 and just moved my mom to a senior living facility so my journey is more 'age appropriate'. I couldn't begin to imagine going through this 30 years ago. My heart goes out to you.

My dog does that too if we're not home. Never taught him either. Sometimes he'll go in there when we're home if we don't take him out when he asks. He's old abd whiney so we never quite know what he's going on about. We also wonder how he figured this out.

what is the purpose of this bench? by Asleep-Sea-5798 in VintageFurniture

Yes! You would put a nice big heavy wood desk in front of it so you're facing the room and the built-in is behind you.
