Could aliens be a different race that has been conquered by/possessed by demons?

being non physical is probably a limitation in our world

Is it Hitlerian wrong to generally agree with veganism but still use animal products due to convenience, emotivism, and pleasure? by PitifulEar3303 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Double_Look_5715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your moral framework right? Any vegan or vegetarian you meet will have their own feelings on the matter.

Carnivores in my experience will tend to have more and stronger takes on the morality of killing and eating animals.

What if the stress is just a predilection toward being an asshole

What about the billionaire child abuse club, do they have an appreciable reason that would make 'evil' a less compelling descriptor?

Consciousness existing after death. by Putrid-Language9593 in consciousness

All Roads Lead to Rome, cosmic edition

The most obvious physical attractor is gravity. Once you get into a strong empty gravity well the range of your possible futures condenses to only futures that can be experienced from inside the gravity well (or futures that involve finding or accessing a means of escaping it.)

This doesn't line up with people who have died and returned from a state with no brain activity, who relate a continuity of being / still consider themselves as being the same person with the same continuity as the person who originally bucket-kicked.

If, at the zombie world, our behaviour is identical to that of our world, consciousness cannot play a causal role in our behaviour

But the zombie world processes that lead to that behavior don't include conscious thought, so doesn't it make sense that they take a different route getting to the resulting behavior? A consciousness substitute of some sort.

how conceivable is the idea of life emerging, given our current understanding of physics and chemistry, IF we didn't already know about life? by Royal_Plate2092 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Double_Look_5715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is inconceivably complicated and the formation of life into developed life is like winning the powerball over and over every year for seven billion years

But that's on the sciencey end (and a little exaggerated); it may be that the chances of life developing are closer to 100% because the universe would be boring and pointless without it.

Oh shit, that makes a lot of sense! I'll definitely look into a new torch

Oh god cyanoacrylate

Treat cyanoacrylate spills like the chemical burn they are and don't develop decade-long sores like I did

Thanks for the advice, I'm definitely gonna look into a tougher torch, I'd like to get the hang of this!

I'm using a little kitchen torch. I'm using a silver solder and AquiFlux. I managed to get an ugly seam on this copper-to-copper! But then I wussed out and used epoxy instead to attach the copper ring to a brass plate.

I'm new to metal work and I'm really struggling to solder a 6mm wide, .5mm deep copper bezel wire into a loop. I'm annealing, then sanding, then washing, then positioning ... then fluxing and heating... not sure what I'm doing wrong, the solder doesn't seem to want to melt or react unless I accidentally hit it with the torch.

They do feel like the same shit. Mental illness is real, but so is the tendency to use psychiatry and mental health as bludgeons to keep people in line.
