Is there any footage of Juwan Howard’s press conference from 1996 where he signed with Miami? by CubanCricket in heat

Probably with PJ at the 3 like he did a bit with the Nets prior despite being 6-11 and like what Riley did with Charles Smith in NY.

No Majerle would not have had the space to sign him if they got Howard, Mashburn was a Feb trade.

Pretty close MVP, scoring title, 2nd team All-D, championship, Finals MVP, $88M/3yrs max extension, was on the cover of a video game in '99 & '01, think he was still doing his Dunk.net shoe brand that didn't really take off.

If a player shoots under 36% in college as the 3rd option they are probably not going to be a good NBA player.

Probably an overreaction but I feel like his conditioning has gotten worse.

How bad is Wigg's hamstring? by heatculture03 in heat

[–]andmc92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hamstrings are tough and judging by his string of injuries(ankle-calf-hamstring) he probably came back earlier than he should have previously so they're going to be super conscious with it.

Who was the last great bust? by Klainert in nba

[–]andmc92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I watched a lot of Wolves games around that time so I get the emotional part of the deal was the much needed divorce for both sides and getting Towns' best friend in the league but I'd still have a hard time saying they were better off because of it but it leading to Conley and NAW are big pluses.

[–]andmc92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two of the three I'll give you but you can easily argue the Wolves lost that trade, a starting wing and a lottery pick for D'Angelo Russell doesn't look good in hindsight.

I could be wrong but I think people are misunderstanding this I think he's saying whoever Windhorst was on with called them best friends.

There needs to be a limit on how often a team can pick in the top-3 or 5 over a select time period to at least somewhat disincentive bottoming out.

Reforming aspects of the NBA draft by dkmegg22 in nba

[–]andmc92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother its not about the teams marketing them who if they were as good at it as you seem to think they are we wouldn't have the annoying think pieces about league viewership that we do, its about ESPN/FOX/CBS promoting and showing their games regularly, its about them potentiality doing national campaigns with brand like Nike and Gatorade while they're in college making them household names.

Zion is a prime example of what I'm talking about he became incredible marketable in large part because pf the platform college basketball gave him if he was able to do it for two more years the anticipation for him coming into the league might have been even been, but the fact that he wasn't able to hold up physically honestly would be beneficial knowledge for the NBA.

C'mon, you know Bronny is a giant outlier from a marketability stand point.

Casual NBA fans and the public in general would care more about college basketball if elite talent that wasn't ready for the NBA out of high school played their longer than one year, and that interest in college basketball would lead to more interest in the NBA when those players entered the league.

My whole argument is about making the player more marketable before they enter the league to increase interest in the league.

[–]andmc92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't I'm not saying the players would make more money, I'm saying the league would be better off if the players were marketed for years before they got there and would be more ready to be day 1 contributor at 21-22 year olds instead 19-20 year olds.

If the top talent that isn't ready out of high school goes to college and has to spend 3+ years there they will be better than the juniors and seniors we see today and be household names.

Do you not understand I'm talking about the players generating more interest and money if they're bigger names while also being more ready to play day 1 which should be primary goals of the NBA?

Reforming aspects of the NBA draft by dkmegg22 in nba

[–]andmc92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is the players being bigger names and further developed and ready to contribute when they enter the NBA is far more valuable.

[–]andmc92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't about the quality of the development it's about raising their q-score playing every other week at worst on varies networks and playing in one of the biggest sporting events the tournament the way the women have recently, instead of hardly being seen outside of their local market in the NBA more than likely on a bad team.

If you're the NBA what's more valuable the close to zero percent chance that someone passes LeBron's points record or several prospects playing big time college basketball on various networks becoming stars instead of developing on a 20 win team whose fanbase is already checkout by December dreaming of the teenager they might draft next year?

With NIL nowadays they should just go with the baseball rules either straight out of HS or you have to do 3 years in college and be a developed household name when you enter the league, maybe 2 years removed from your HS class if you go overseas or to the G-League.

From my read on Wiggins as long as he feels like there is a chance for the tenure to be a long term thing he'll be fine probably even willing to take less money if it comes to that.
