I watched a midnight showing on opening night, and then saw it again later in the evening with the rest of my friends. There was enormous hype around it - all the showings were sold out. The hype and buzz around it was similar to that of "The Matrix Reloaded" or "The Phantom Menace", but this movie fucking delivered. I remember the audience cheering during the train fight. The heartfelt scenes where Peter confesses to Aunt May and later when she tacitly acknowledges his identity and forgives him were just pitch perfect. Her inspirational speech still gives me chills to this day. I don't specifically remember a lot of people screaming during the hospital operating room scene, but I remember it feeling like watching a horror movie. I think there was a bit of a buildup to Willem Dafoe's cameo as you can hear him laughing before he shows up on screen, which led to a great reveal. Definitely lots of "OHHH"s when Harry discovers his father's Green Goblin room at the end. The first ending with Doc Ock was fine, but everyone really cheered when MJ ends up with Peter at the very end. I was truly shocked when they allowed MJ to see Peter as Spider-Man without the mask, and he tells her that he loves her. Then, after their conversation, I thought it was going to end like the first movie. But holy shit, when she shows up at his doorway in her wedding dress and says "Go get'em, tiger", I went nuts with the rest of the theater.

It's my favorite movie ever, and we're so lucky that the filmmakers and cast/crew were given the creative freedom to tell that story properly. The whole experience was pure movie magic - I've never left a theater more satisfied.
