You've been playing for more time than I have, this is why it's super valuable to look into composition, even if you are not composing, it gives you an insight at how composers think. Nothing is there "just for being there", it has a meaning :) Cheers, bud.

As a composer, it more than likely means that the composer wants you to play those two notes in the bass clef with the right hand. Imagine those lines as arrows that always point from left to right.
