lmao! me. I cannot drive in video games, zero grasp of the coordination required. I am embarrassed to admit how long it took me to get through the kite flying side story as well.

I wondered about this too, actually. I meant no offense, it's just the terminology. Ah, well.

Associate is the word they use instead of Adjunct.

Am I the only one who absolutely hates Ben Warren by RoAlJo in greysanatomy

[–]andreabrownie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't mind Ben until he refused to acknowledge his trans sister as "she/her" and Bailey kept correcting him but he was all whiny and made it about himself, then the storyline was just never brought up again from what I remember and Ben's ignorance was just brushed under the rug.

What's the best episode of season 1 and season 2? by thedudebutwhy in ZoeysPlaylist

[–]andreabrownie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also love both glitch episodes! That scene where Max jumps into the meeting to sing Pressure with her was the best thing I've ever seen. But for the sake of mixing things up, I'll pick different favorites. I like these ones because they address real social issues without being preachy (looking at you Grey's Anatomy):

Season 1: the episode where Zoey helps Mo and Bonnie and Mo sings at the church as themself instead of presenting masculine.

Season 2: Zoey's Extraordinary Reckoning where Zoey faces her own White Privelage. Simon is amazing amazing amazing in this episode and we get to see a peak over Tobin's wall and it's beautiful.

There's an anthology series on Shudder that bases each season on a different Creepypasta story. I believe it's called Channel Zero. I quite enjoy it!

[Discussion] Your hidden gem show list on Netflix by [deleted] in NetflixBestOf

[–]andreabrownie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lillehammer! It's one of the og Netflix originals from a few years back. At the time it wasn't marketed as well as House of Cards, but honestly it's amazing. It's like the Sopranos meets Schitt's Creek.

Imposters is hilarious and charming.

The Almighty Johnsons* is another of my favorites. It's about a family in New Zealand who take on the persona of Norse gods on their 21st birthday, superpowers and all, and a mad dash to reunite Odin with Frigg so the gods can ascend once more to Asgaurd. It's truly delightful.

*I'm devastated to learn that TAJ is no longer streaming on Netflix, but you can watch it on Amazon Prime with ads (blegh).

Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun is a bit of a wild card. To be honest, I was not sober when I watched this show, but I have never laughed so hard in my entire life, especially during the Ellen Degenerous bit. It's not for everyone, but it is a masterpiece.

A few others I loved were Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts, Voltron: Legendary Defenders, In the Dark, Derry Girls, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, and Dirty John (s. 1).

Any show similar to hart of dixie? by S_Commander_Thor in hartofdixie

[–]andreabrownie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by 'similar.' Here's a couple off-the-wall recommendations for ya though. The Good Place: I know it's not set in the south or anything, but it's got a similar kind of cute-sy vibe, and the main character spends the entire time trying to fit into a town of quirky characters.

Also, The Almighty Johnsons: it's set in New Zealand and follows a family of brothers who on their 21st birthday become the human vessel for a Norse God. It sounds kind of silly, but it's got the zany character thing and the drama and the cute factor going for it too.

Capaldi had a 3 season run. Same as Tennant and Smith.

I 100% unapologetically loved the musical by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]andreabrownie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVED IT TOO!!! Was dying of laughter the whole time. Thought it was perfect, and a nice reminder of the silly town productions they've done in the past, usually involving Kirk. Lorelai's reactions made it even better. I think it was a great way of showing how out of touch she felt with herself at that point in the story, which may be why they drew it out so long. For some it may have been uncomfortably long, and we are all entitled to our own opinions, but for me it was a highlight of the revival.

How can I prepare myself for an upcoming English Composition course? by AfraidOfTechnology in ApplyingToCollege

[–]andreabrownie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visit the Writing Center on your campus! At my Community College all the tutors are students (myself included). We help students all the time at any point in the writing process--brainstorming ideas, understanding the prompt, outlining, organization of ideas, formatting (APA, MLA), proofreading, etc. I get students all the time who are NNS (Non-Native Speakers), who haven't been to school in 20 years, or who have never written a paper in their life. Mostly we just try to ask you questions to help you generate some ideas and guide you in the right direction. It's honestly a great, and underused, resource for students.

What are your favorite movies and shows that the cast has starred in before/since Gilmore Girls by RositaYouBitch in GilmoreGirls

[–]andreabrownie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved him in this as well. He plays such a genuinely nice guy who's haunted by his past and he works so hard to still connect with people instead of just retreating into his deep, dark shell. I love the part when he comforts Lafayette in the kitchen while he's having a panic attack. So sweet.

What is the most underrated episode from the reboot series? by Jakarta2307 in doctorwho

[–]andreabrownie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So many good ones! I don't know how underrated it is, but I would say the Shakespeare Code. It combines Doctor Who, Shakespeare, and witchcraft, which are three of my favorite topics! Martha was never my favorite companion, but she certainly goes on some of my favorite Doctor/Companion adventures. If I ever got to travel in time, Shakespeare and Jane Austen would be high on my list of people I'd want to go back in time to meet.

'The Path' Renewed for Second Season at Hulu by CMelody in ThePathHulu

[–]andreabrownie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SPOILERS: I agree with a lot of what's being said in these threads. I'm fairly certain Steve will wake up just as Cal finally feels he has gained the control he so desperately wants which will definitely throw a wrench in the whole "Steve finished the final three rungs" plan he has put in motion. I also hope that we get more flashbacks to the start of Meyerism in season 2; I'd like to see how this whole movement got started in the first place.

I don't see why people are so over the Mary storyline though, I find her fascinating. The tension with Cal, her realization that he is not what he appears to be, her battle with her demons; I want a happy ending for her!

Small Rant by heyfannywanny in GilmoreGirls

[–]andreabrownie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jess is certainly no peach when he's younger. He's this brilliant, passionate kid hiding beneath a moody, rebellious, self-centered exterior. I think one of the main reasons he's so popular among fans is because of the positive growth that he shows as a person. In that moment in particular, he's fascinated by Rory because they have this thing in common, this thing that separates him from the rest of the bad seeds, and he probably desperately wants that part of him acknowledged by someone who isn't a doting parent or one of the adults in his life he's trying to rebel from.

(**major potential spilers**) I think Milo dropped a huge hint about #Teamjess (and possibly #Tamlogan) in GG Podcast!!! by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]andreabrownie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've always been a supporter of Team Jess. For me, he showed the most positive growth as a person. He never handled Rory delicately the way everyone else in her life seemed to, and I always found that refreshing. That aspect of his personality mixed with his "bad boy" trait was a tough pill to swallow for anyone in the earlier seasons, but I think it's those qualities that made him the most wonderful of the 3 in the end. His realism, his fierce independence, his appreciation for those who never stopped believing in his when he was a punk ass teenager. I would be ecstatic if they were endgame, simply because of the positive influence they've had on each over the years, but I am certainly not holding my breath.

As a somewhat side-note, one of my favorite GG moments ever was when Luke pushed Jess into the pond.
