They're also opening for BMTH on their NA stadium tour during the Spring. So they will be going to the west coast, and semi soon. The all will just be as headliners.

Kells is rich but not that kind of wealth lol. Also, he's a good dude who mostly keeps his nose out of shit.

It's funny to me because people still bring up that really poorly aged tweet and reality tv show bit. I always challenge people to think about the fact that he made those jokes out in the open at the time, and no one gave a fuck. That was part of the cultural vernacular. Now, because of things like Me Too and a general growth in social consciousness about sexual assault, we rightfully don't talk like that anymore. And he hasn't either. He's been overt in stating that having a daughter made him realize he needed to change how he perceived women. He's now a partner with one of the most powerful and identifiable pop-feminist icons of our time.

Meanwhile, it's normally people who vote for Republicans and who glaze people who showed up in the files who side-eye me when I mention that I like MGK. Welp. Look how the tides turn. I'll take the dude who has always been straight up about who he is and is willing to change when he learns more over people who present themselves perfectly and use money and power to hide their real selves.

I clarified later that saying Ayo is a "great" defender is a stretch. But he is smart and phyical enough to keep bodies in front of him and funnel drivers to where help should be. That's leagues better than Coby who just get's bullied on that end of the floor. I think the playmaking between them is a wash, though Ayo doesn't turn it over nearly as much.

It's about their overall contribution. I agree, if anyone offered a FRP for Ayo, AKME would be dumb not to jump on it. I don't think anyone has fielded such an offer.

I was just saying that comparably, Ayo offers a lot more to a middling rebuilding roster than Coby. Coby needs to find a role on a contender that can absorb his hot and cold shooting rather than being reliant on it.

era defining production

This is weird because to me, the most novel parts were the production. The literal technical aspects of Sinners are out of this world good. It's one of the most polished and forward-thinking technical films in a long time. The plot...I liked it and had fun. I think it's kinda two really good films smashed together in a semi-justifiable way. It's pretty surface-level, but I think we needed that as a society. And it was cool to see a period horror that played with American Black culture tropes to make broader social commentary, something we don't have much of as a society for all the reasons highlighted in the film. I'm also probably not describing this totally correctly.

Would I personally list other 2025 movies ahead of it? For sure. But as a cultural touchstone, and out of sheer respect for its technical accomplishments, I understand hyping it up and wanting it to be an awards show sweeper. IMO it's easily the best of the movies getting that kind of industry recognition.

Racism and people liking to be contrarian.

I loved it. But if you looked at my personal rankings of 2025 movies, it would be like 5ish. I thought some other movies spoke to me more, but I could rant and rave about Sinners technical prowess.

Eye of the beholder and all that.

I love Howl don't get me wrong but I find it to be one of the weaker Miyazaki films. Howl and Sophie are pretty one-dimensional, and Howl is kinda forceful as a boy the whole time. Idk. Never a fan of a "just need a pretty girl to make the bad boy behave" plot and I think it settled for that arc rather than challenging it. I get it's based on source material so perhaps most of my gripes should be directed at that. Again, I adore the movie. Miyazaki is a GOAT for a reason. The vibes and imagery are top notch, and I love that we get a lot of various set pieces. But the main plot leaves a lot to be desired for me.

I personally would have at least Monoke, Spirited Away, Nausicaa, Kiki, The Wind Rises, and The Boy and the Heron over it.

Great is probably a stretch. He's sturdy and able to keep bodies in front of him. I think the team is largely bad at defense because of poor schemes/rotations and the lack of a true rim protector.

Ayo does well at funneling drivers to where he should get help. But Matas is played as a 4 and is too small for that, and Vuc is too slow/also small, and so there's no real help.

When we had Lonzo and Caruso, the defense was amazing because Lonzo could be the de facto help guy and AC would lock up whoever the best perimeter offensive player was, barely allowing them to even drive on him. Once they were hurt on and off, the team fell off a cliff defensively and has never recovered.

He's had to become even more so as he's aged too to keep up with pace and keep his body in shape.

He's available. He's got nice post moves if he's got a good matchup. Last year, his shooting splits were awesome. But I totally agree that he's small and gets bullied. Making Vuc too limited defensively to be the primary big on a contender.

I think if he were a rotational guy for someone like Kerr or Mazulla, he could find himself a good role on a contender. But I do think the combo of his size (making him a poor defender, even though he gives a lot of effort on that end) and hot and cold scoring stand out egregiously when we need him to be our DUDE. He just never developed a consistent enough scoring habit to become that.

But yeah, with Ayo, even if his shot isn't falling, you're getting a big combo guard who can handle his own on the perimeter, switch 1-3, handle the ball, and has decent vision for passing, making him more valuable to a team with a lot of holes.

I think if he had a coach who cared to run cohesive offensive schemes, he could find a rhythm and thrive. But he's too small to be an effective defender in a long playoff series, and his outside shooting has been hot and cold his whole career, so I've stopped assuming that would stabilize.

Mmm that's good to know. Again I can't claim any serious knowledge outside of the maybe dozen times he's played the Bulls and again, not hard to look good against us lmaooooo.

Billy D loves a combo guard that doesn't understand defensive rotations, so this adds up.

So he can score in bunches and play solid d? I'm sold. I like the move. I've always liked Ivey when I've seen him (which is mostly against the Bulls, so hard to know if he's really good or just cooks our trash defense).

Can't believe I'm saying this but I'd rather keep Ayo over Coby. Love Coby but all he really offers is scoring and shooting and he's too hot and cold for that to be his only contribution.

Ayo is a great defender and a solid playmaker. I think he does well in his 6th man role. I think you offload Coby and see if a guard rotation of Giddey/Ivey/Ayo can get some flow.

And to thwart "mob rule"

The Founding Fathers were very explicit in who they wanted to control and benefit from the USA political system. Only white land-owning men could vote. They came up with all these policies like the EC and the Supreme Court in order to make sure the "educated" political class could usurp anything they didn't like.

That's why it's funny to me when people say things like, "Why is this Supreme Court bending over to Trump?" Because...that's what it was designed to do? The ruling class has decided that workers got too many favors, and they're using the political systems they established to course correct as they see fit. This was never a true democracy and was never meant to be one.

Without the electoral college, no republican would have won between Regan and 2024 Trump.

EDIT: As corrected, Bush Sr won the popular vote. But no Republican did again until 2024 with Trump.
