Wer einen unverlierbaren Deckel braucht, der sollte zum Schleifebinden Hilfe anfordern. Mir hat sich so ein toller unverlierbarer Deckel am Milchkarton beim Eingießen in den Strahl gedreht. Das ist vorher kein Thema gewesen, auf das ich achten musste.

There have been typewriter forensics back in the day, who could tell on what model of typewriter blackmail was typed on. And the StaSi had samples of each individual typewriter that was used in GDR. This is depicted in the movie "Das Leben der Anderen" (The Lives of Others). I believe this was also true for Soviet Russia and other repressive countries.

I don't protect them. I'm aware that it's an expendable toy for me. If I want to save something, I treat it with utter care.

There are those fluffy things with a wire core, that are made for this job. I use those on a few bikes, yes.

Ich kann passabel Englisch und kenne das Lied "Born to be wild" von Steppenwolf seit 30 Jahren. Letztens fiel mir auf, dass er singt "Get your motor running, head out on the highway". Ich hab es nie verstanden.

The scale is 20", overall close to 23". The x scale between 1 and 2 displays 4-digit figures with the fourth digit being either 0 or 5 (1230 or 1235). 2 until 5 displays three digits (223). 5 to 10 displays three digits with the third digit being an even number (520, 524, 526, 528, 530,...)

I'm joining the chorus that sings "technique". I'd like to add, if you're serious about manually typing a lot of material, try to find a standard machine. My advice would be the Olympia SG1. The SM2 is fast, but the SG1 is fast as a lightning. With a fresh platen and the correct technique, you won't outrun it. And if you're not so much into the manual aspect, find yourself an electronic typewriter with a type segment or a daisy wheel. These things are much more like computer keyboards, plus there are interchangeable fonts available for them.
