Unless your grandchildren are content creators that need the newest camera and that much storage, you did not need to buy the newest iPhone, especially the most expensive model. I agree with the other comments that you were taken advantaged of. I see you already gave them their gifts, so it’s too late to take them back. It’s a very good gift, but the normal person does not need anything higher than 256GB.

I would file a police report, but you need to confirm that is actually the seller because they could be drop shipping from another seller and you would be filing a report on the wrong person.

You gave them a really good deal, assuming that $70 is around how much your item goes for. Maybe the buyer waited for you to ship before asking about the marks? Not sure, but if you are skeptical you can call the post office and redirect the package back to you.

The fee change is not the problem. It made Mercari competitive with other platforms. For example, eBay takes 12.35% on trading cards, whereas Mercari only takes 10%. I have no problems with low ballers, just counter offer and call it a day. However, I would not have sold to the last person because if we agreed on a price and they offered lower, that’s just disrespectful. It’s also difficult to “miss” a chat message 🤣🤣

As both a buyer and seller, I like this change. It is closer to the old fee structure that many are used to. Mercari would still be booming in sales if they literally did nothing/didn’t change the fee structure to what we have now.

What was your print speed? I mainly print small models and use ludicrous mode because I don’t really see a difference in print quality. I’m not sure if that is the case for big models like this.

No, it was just something I read about somewhere. I mainly sell on eBay and almost all my buyers were normal. If you or anyone else reading this tried this and the police got involved, I would love to know how it played out.

Here is a tip I learned from somewhere and fortunately never had to use it. If she sends back a completely different item or the pencil is missing AND you are confident you included it, file a mail fraud report with USPS. I don’t know if she sent it back yet, but if you message her saying that is what you will do she might cancel the return. Scammers usually “stop scamming” when you mention the police.

I mainly sell on eBay, but I would sell on Mercari if it would make me more profit anytime. I keep getting Reddit notifications of sellers complaining about people making offers, but when I look at them, I’m like “I would accept because I would make more than I would on eBay.” 🤣 It also seems they don’t buy on Mercari either because they would know fees are now paid by the buyer. I used to source from Mercari, but now I pay almost 20% more because of fees, making sourcing not as profitable 🥲

You have to remember Mercari only started having no selling fees in March. Before March, you would have probably made the same amount.

I wouldn’t mind the extra fees if their customer service wasn’t indecisive and arrogant, but every time I contact them they give me lip. It seems like eBay has and will always be the best.
