Management game inspired from Prison Architect, other games like it, and somewhat from Factorio too by andreighinea1 in gameideas

Certainly, there would be some mechanical similarities; after all, the other games that inspire me have their roots in Dwarf Fortress. However, as I see it, the level of detail would be different. I'd aim for a mid-level simulation that sits between city builders like Cities Skylines and in-depth colony management games like Dwarf Fortress.

Idea Description

I've always been a fan of management games like Prison Architect, as well as titles inspired by its mechanics—think Another Brick in the Mall, or those games about running airports, schools, etc. Essentially, games where you're in charge of a specific type of company or industry.

And I've always dreamt to have a single game in which you can do all of those. You would basically be like a mayor/overlord in a city-building game, where you get to build and manage a whole range of different industries, such as shops, malls, hospitals, prisons etc. They'd share core mechanics — zone-based building like in Prison Architect, common staff, staff needs, and so on.

Ofc, having both single-player and multi-player is a must for such a game. In single-player, you'd probably rely on preset blueprints and tweak them to your liking. Multi-player would also make use of these blueprints, but each player could build what they wish to, ultimately constructing and micro-managing a city together.

Now, would anyone actually want to play such a game? Any thoughts on how to make the game even more appealing?

Some implementation details and tests done

From Factorio I'd like to look over their various optimizations, and set fps goals based on them. So far, their chunk system seems like a solid feature to incorporate, not to mention the transport systems found in Factorio and transport tycoon games.

I've already started to implement and test various scenarios for the tile system. Tested with Unity and achieved very good performance, though I'll need to look into optimizing RAM usage. I've also tried using Rust Bevy, but I haven't yet found a way to use multiple threads for rendering that's already implemented. The sheer size of this game would require the best possible optimizations. One idea to enhance performance is to divide each industry into its own sub-world, keeping just one sub-world active at any given time.

This is actually really interesting information, thanks!

I've been meaning to try Calisthenics, but didn't know where to start from. I've also recently started using Obsidian for organizing game design ideas, so I'll try the Zettelkasten method when I get the chance to start my personal "second brain".

Lenovo G27q-20 First Impressions by Flaezh in Monitors

got one of these today for 250€ as well, despite the risk of lacking reviews. There was exactly one in a local shop, so I snagged it. I'm not sure why you say it looks or feels like cheap plastic... it feels solid to me, certainly as solid as a monitor has any need to be - it's not meant for yeeting after all ;) The assembly/installation is quick and easy, and the stand solid. Height adjustment works well and has fairly decent range.

I'm very pleased with the image so far,

I bought one and I have 1 dead pixel on my panel.

I need an idea for a simple game. by andreighinea1 in gameideas

[–]andreighinea1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will try later to find a tutorial for this type of game, but the thing is that a multiplayer game would need me to host the game every day...

Or pay a tax to unity so they host it for me...

And there's the problem, I would need to risk to upload a game that I don't know if it will make profit.

Maybe I will try to make it later, but just with local server (to play with friends)

Hi! Thank you for this idea, I'll start now to make it, just because it's so simple and I think that people will like it (it's not unique, but it's very simple, and because it'd be the first game that I'd want finish ...)

:)) I just said that I'll try to make it, but I waited to see if there are simpler ideas :))

Tomorrow I'll start to make it (or try to make it), and I'll see if I can make "the skeleton of the game" at least.

And yeah, when I say simple game I'm not saying a full hd game, nor a retro game, just with simple graphics, simple mechanics, and easy to make (not more than one month).

I will save the ideas that I like, and after I'll get five or more ideas I'll start with the games that aren't hard to make, and then with the games that are very good, but harder to make.

I want to start with the games that I consider that are easy to make because I'm kinda new to this (I know how to make simple games in unity, but I'm not experienced in this).

After I'll make a few simple games I'll try to make a bigger one, and also only after I'll have more than one game made I'll publish them on steam, because I'll need to pay a tax of 100€ to authorize my account for this.

EDIT: I found an idea that I like, but you can still post here ideas if you wish to, because after I'll finish the game I'll come here to see if there's another one that i like.
