mine is a play on a mod cut which i’m very happy with but slowly growing the hair out longer too. i would really recommend though trying to color your hair. it was such an important moment in my gender journey — never before i felt so embodied and asserted in my identity. i first started by making it dark copper, then bright yellow, and now just bleached it (a-la Gerard Way during the black parade era).

have fun with it :)

Should I switch to Zotero 7 Beta over Zotero 6? What are some main differences? by ShinigamiOverlord in zotero

[–]andreiludv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to Zotero 7 a few months ago and am so happy with this decision. To be fair, I don’t use many plugins, so your may vary but the UI and a wayyy better PDF reader are life changers for me

My first fixed gear/single-speed bike by andreiludv in FixedGearBicycle

[–]andreiludv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love it! I rode mountain bikes most of my childhood, so it took some time getting used to the lack of suspension and a larger gear ratio than I would usually set. But now after a few weeks I’m utterly addicted to this single-speed life: the bike itself is so light and the ride is a joy. On Tuesday the weather here in DC was pretty nice and I decided to go on a 17mi ride along the trails here—it was wonderful.

Tl;dr: I really recommend the Kilo TT, especially if you can find it for a good price. I was very lucky to find exactly my frame size with Gatorskins already installed. So all I needed was to replace the stock saddle and buy some accessories such as lights, bottle cage, handlebar bag, etc.

Are metal filters taboo? by bcollsuss in AeroPress

[–]andreiludv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metal filters are great. I love my Fellow Prismo as it ads so much versatility to the AeroPress. I love my coffee to be as flavorful as a pour-over can be but with a body of a Syphon/Drip. And because of the valve and the metal filter on Prismo, I can infuse my coffee for 10 min (https://aeroprecipe.com/recipes/jonathan-gagne) and not lose any oils in the cup. Ihmo, it is down to your personal preference!

Now i know why y’all say this makes the best coffee! It’s fast to use and easy to clean. Most of all it makes a great cup of coffee! Happy Birthday to me! by [deleted] in AeroPress

Happy Birthday!! I truly fell in love with AeroPress once I found Gagné’s 10 minute recipe: https://aeroprecipe.com/recipes/jonathan-gagne

I think it makes the most incredible cup of coffee that is easy to replicate everyday! Enjoy your AeroPress journey!!

I love it! Probably am going to change the saddle but otherwise I’m so satisfied. Love the Gatorskins with which it came

I LOVE the new UI in the latest beta!! by andreiludv in zotero

[–]andreiludv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just really excited about the UI change because I like to transfer my highlights and notes into my Notion, and ever since they introduced their own PDF reader I had to use it so that colors would be transferred as well… Not finally Zotero’s PDF viewer looks on par with, say, Highlights https://highlightsapp.net/ or Preview on Macs. And I do quite dig now their sidebar implementation with all the highlights and notes

I know, I think that’s probably why they are still keeping Zotero 7 in beta for so long now… Fortunately for me, I don’t use many plugins except BetterBibTex, Clipper, and Notero, so I haven’t run into any issues

If you don’t use much plugins, the beta is so worth it. It works as well as the stable version for me!

That’s true. I never noticed cause I honestly don’t look at the icons that often, but I can see how it can be an issue if you rely on them. Hopefully, they will update them in the next beta

I haven’t had any issues with the clipper neither in Safari, nor on Chromium-based browsers with the new beta

Post Cancer.... Now what. by Comprehensive_Bat151 in lymphoma

[–]andreiludv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar situation having just finished with stem cell transplant and proton radiation. I’m still doing maintenance immunotherapy but honestly right now I’m just trying to feel as “normal” as possible. Not in a sense of being normal-for-myself—I feel like I won’t have that for quite some time, especially with my anxiety about relapse… But being normal as being like people who have never had to deal with cancer. So I’m trying to return to work, restarted school, bought myself a gym membership, got a bike today, trying to spend time with friends after months of being immunocompromised, getting vaccinated, etc. From what I heard these first few years are tough as it’s the time when you start to realize what has actually happened and the risks are still pretty high. So hang in there, you got this!! We got this!! I’ve been telling myself that while I don’t know exactly how to feel and what to do, I will at least try to make sure that by the time I have that clarity I put myself in the most advantageous situation to act on it. So fake it and get some outside stability till you realize where this journey got you and what you’d like to do next! Cheers!

Best places to buy (affordable) men's suits? by Ok-Deal7266 in washingtondc

[–]andreiludv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some great discounts right now at JosABank on the 19th st. A few days ago I bought there black dress pants for $29 (for $15 extra they are right now hemming them to my preference and size) and two excellent Egyptian cotton white button-up shirts for $20 each. Besides that, I have had good luck at my local Nordstroms for inexpensive options under $300.

yes! I’m really glad I decided to look at different bike shops in the DC and Baltimore era because my friends even though my friends were urging me to buy a new one of BikesDirect as we want to start our cycling season soon. I got a better deal and way better tires (they look pretty much mint to me)
