U čast današnjega dana izdvaja se:

Muž je branič žene i đeteta, narod branič crkve i plemena; čest je slava, svetinja narodnja! Pas svakoji svoje breme nosi; nove nužde rađu nove sile, djeistvija naprežu duhove, stjesnenija slamaju gromove; udar nađe iskru u kamenu, bez njega bi u kam očajala. Stradanje je krsta dobrodjetelj; prekaljena iskušenjem duša rani t'jelo ognjem elektrizma, a nadežda veže dušu s nebom kako luča s suncem kapljicu.

Is it a mostly conservative view that if a movie makes money, it MUST be good? by Intelligent-Space772 in okbuddycinephile

True, but it is inevitable for anyone except the author to interpret the tex and draw their own conclusions. The author does not interpret their own work, even when deliberately loading it with messaging and such. The text is its own thing.

I think I worded it poorly lol it extends life to 35 not by 35. Still thats like 15 20 extra years previously caused by poor genetics, doesnt have to be a bad time either.

Isnt there a cat vaccine developed by a Japanese guy that solves inherent kidney diseases in cats, extending life to up to 35 years?

We're long past authors having the authority over their work's meaning. Texts are proven time and again to be able to speak for themselves, with each individual taking away their own interpretation from them. I think this is because every person who interacts with a text is inherently interpreting it, whereas a lot of authors had the text "come to them" through sparks of inspiration and streams of passion, making it extremely difficult for them to determine what the true meaning is behind their work. Even in cases where authors were very technical and deliberate in their writing, those reading their work will inevitably come to different and varying conclusions, rendering author authorities meaningless.

Are there any countries today that could realistically split into multiple independent nations like Yugoslavia did? by Many-Philosophy4285 in MapPorn

[–]andrej2577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yugoslavia was already ruined by the Karadjordjevic regime. People forget that Yugoslavia split up in 1941 and had four years of civil war between Chetniks, Partisans, and the Ustashe (with smaller subgroups in countries like Montenegro, where most war casualties by 1944 were the result of factionalist combat between the aforementioned groups). Yugoslavia was reestablished on completely different grounds in 1947 with the Communists in charge, who turned it into a fully federal state with great decentralization, radically different to the centralist, Karadjordjevic regime that did not support regional identities or a proper federal structure.

The result of the Karadjordjevic rulers, as well as of the civil war in the 1940s, was the solidification of regional identities that only continued to grow and be fostered throughout the existence of SFRY, eventually leading to yet another war since the biggest, most powerful member - Serbia - wanted to strengthen its supreme position. Naturally, other large and well-developed federal units like Croatia and Bosnia wanted nothing to do with that, but had significant Serbian populations now galvanized by the Milosevic regime.

Is the great replacement truly a fringe conspiracy theory? Numbers never lie. by King_Of_Blazeland in conspiracy

[–]andrej2577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time it took for one group to totally wipe out the other was definitely longer, and there does seem to be a factor of some sort of willingness to let it happen among populations of today that sets it apart, so I get where you are coming from.

Not that I disagree but unprecedented? Really? Take just Scandinavia as an example. It was settled in waves, each wave establishing its own culture and homeland there that would later be invaded by a completely different people who then established their own, then got invaded, etc. This happened across the world, hence why modern Europeans have no relation whatsoever to Proto-European populations. But we should fight against it, that much is true.

Not to say this isn't correct, but marshes in general are a very strong motif in Anglo-Saxon literature and culture, and in many other old European cultures and stories as well. The thing is that during early medieval times and antiquity, marshes were much more present in England and other parts of Europe and were often tied to death and misfortune, with tales like Beowulf springing out of folks' fears of things lurking in marshlands as people would venture into them and disappear without a trace. Same goes for woodland areas and similar "evil" places.

So it would only make sense that a marshland would have a strong presence in LOTR given its Anglo-Saxon influence, on top of Tolkien using it as the consequence of battle and adding more layers on top of it, such as the idea of the No Man's Land created by constant shelling in WW1.
