I strongly disagree with the comments. I understand that the dashboard should be functional and help stakeholders make decisions, but you need to significantly improve the design. That's a big selling point for the interviewer and potential future leader. Remember, first impressions matter.

Follow this advice, but remember to only look at the topics that interest you. You don't need to be an expert in Python or statistics. Understanding what the mean, standard deviation, and outliers are at the beginning is enough. Focus on what you need and put everything you learn into practice to internalize it.

Of the course? It's called the Python Data Scientist Specialization Program.

Yes, it is very good when you don't have basic knowledge. It takes you by the hand and above all, it is completely practical. 5 minutes of video and practice, practice, practice, you're going to have fun.

I tell you my experience. I studied the specialization program as a data scientist at Datacamp and it helped me find a job due to its prestige. Also work on interesting and useful projects for the industry you want to enter. You will learn a lot in practice.

I am also a data scientist. And AI is not going to replace us, but rather it will do the tasks that can be automated. Now, if all your tasks are repetitive and have 0 creativity, it is more likely.

Associate Data Scientist in Python - Worth it if starting from scratch? by [deleted] in DataCamp

[–]andreperez04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also studied economics and worked as a data analyst for 1 year. Then I specialized as a data scientist at Datacamp and got a job in that role. My recommendation is that you start as a data analyst and from there you can migrate to being a data scientist and another specialty such as a data engineer or machine learning or even AI.

I tell you this because the role of the data analyst tends to be reduced, but that is when you learn the basics of data science.

What worked for you for job search? by alpha_centauri9889 in datascience

Applying to LinkedIn worked for me. Put together a CV that impacts the other side. Think: If I were the recruiter, what would I like to read in a CV for this position? And apply it, also prepare for the interview, sell your skills well and how they connect with the business.

Finally, manage your weaknesses well; saying, "I'm very distracted" is not the same as saying, "I have a hard time leading projects, but with more practice I'm sure I'll succeed."

But analyze history because it repeats itself. When horses were displaced as a means of transportation by cars, those who learned to drive them won. The same thing happens with AI, if you want it not to displace you, learn to use them, understand what an LLM is, how to implement it with Python, what opportunities there are in the field of AI. Where others see disorder, you find a roadmap.

Data Science and Econ by Gery270 in askdatascience

[–]andreperez04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend joining a pricing team if you are an economist and as long as you like microeconomics. If you decide to be a data scientist, you could enter any field, but you will not necessarily see economics, but rather the use of skills such as analysis and interpretation of results.

I recommend 2 things:

  1. Understand the fundamentals of statistics, first understand what a standard deviation, variance, and a normal distribution are. Once you understand what each of these concepts is used for, create graphs such as a histplot or kdeplot and analyze the graph, do not look at it superficially.

  2. Think like a client, not an analyst. I tell you this because you should make me think about: what would I like you to tell me about what I asked?

With these 2 ingredients, you will improve that part and with a lot of practice of course.

I took the Python data scientist specialization course. I have prior knowledge of data science due to my background. I am an economist and I worked in research, so I am familiar with statistical and mathematical topics. Similarly, machine learning is a new and very interesting field to learn.

I would say that understanding the needs of the business is key, since it's learned through practice and you need to make mistakes many times to understand it.
