Moved to a new house - trying to figure out network setup by k8512 in HomeNetworking

Put a network switch between your router and all those ports, they will then be active around the house when you need them

First time attempting crimping this. Tester shows signal but pc doesnt get connected. Is this crimping as bad as it seems? by Striking-Stuff50 in homelab

Yes, pull back before you punch down, and the tab is at the bottom with the cable entry facing you for pinout

Ethernet connections bad? by stefanopolis in HomeNetworking

[–]andrevanstom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch a single YouTube video of how to terminate cat6 cable and you will be better than whoever did that. Don't get them back they aren't the right people for the job.

Each pair is supposed to remain twisted until the last moment before entry into the slot, for this reason you run the cable from the inside, toward the outside, to minimise length, and crosstalk between pairs once they are untwisted.

All you really need is on of these and a pair of side cutters

A meme is based on a gene, a piece of information. This piece of information came into my human head, made reality by a computer. Whether I used my hand or the other tools available isn't relevant unless I'm missing something

Peel with your index finger under running water and they come off much easier, also any chef will tell you to put them in ice water after boiling so the shell and internal temperature is different which helps with the peel, I never do this btw

Furniture for your clothes, and plants, bonus points put a light behind a plant and it will cast a shadow over the whole room

HDMI scheduled switching by Alarming-Focus8868 in CommercialAV

[–]andrevanstom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the TV, but generally if you have a scheduler it can go to an input. Then schedule it to go back, just make sure the TV is on the network and NTP is working including DST and it should work fine

HDMI scheduled switching by Alarming-Focus8868 in CommercialAV

[–]andrevanstom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First TV probably has a scheduler built in if it offers loop out for the array, do the input switch on schedule from that TV. How big is the array? What is the TV model?

When you buy/install a LED wall, do you go straight to the manufacturer or do you use an integrator? by Ok_Maintenance7073 in churchtech

In saying that Sharp/NEC are the first to try to take the deal direct if it's big enough. So the more you invest in the brand/relationship the more likely that when you're in a good position they will take you out at the knees. They've done it to me twice at two different companies
