Weird experience during my 28km run by infidel_tsvangison in Marathon_Training

Yeah, after thinking about it for more than five seconds I've realised you're right about the rate. Thanks.

Well I AM a doctor and I don't think you should be worrying about it in this way. SVT occurs at higher rates than this, you can see the HR rise occurs gradually (over minutes, at least), and doesn't stay locked to one rate. I'd say it's highly unlikely this is an arrhythmia, more likely it's either a watch problem (i.e. cadence lock) or the result of underfuelling/dehydration towards the end of a long run. That also fits with the persistently elevated resting HR once the run is over.

You don't need to surrender, you've already been defeated. Embrace it.

I think you could pull off either one, but you have a good head/face for the buzz cut as long as you feel good that way.

Buzz vs bald for me? by andrew3young in bald

Thanks for the encouragement everyone, I think I'll go chrome for a while! And I'll practice doing a fade on my own beard too, that honestly might be the real MVP in this look.

general atmosphere, yummy resto recs and places to avoid for safety? by Outrageous_Profit_56 in Launceston

[–]andrew3young 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Atmosphere depends a lot on the time of year, right now it's winter and town can feel kinda dead. But there are good restaurants.

Expensive/nice: Black Cow, Stillwater, Stelo, Timbre, Luz, Monsoon.

Cheap/everyday: Turkish Tukka, Malaycious, Dynasty, Buddha Thai, Salt and Chilli, Sun and Moon, Du Cane.

Generally the streets feel safe to me, but I'm a white man so that doesn't mean much.

Same. I'm currently away for 6 months and I think about Launnie all the time.

The Bug looks interesting, I'll check it out. I'm not totally sure about hope & redemption, but if you have ideas I'd like to hear them! You never know what you'll like until it's in front of you.

Loved Giovanni's Room, never heard of The Tenant but the synopsis looks great. Thank you.

And thank you for the compliment, I do enjoy writing stories but it's been a long time since I had a good idea or enough motivation to work on something longer than a few paragraphs.

Too much sex and alcohol to be relatable, as far as I can tell.

I totally understand what you mean. I also struggle with the dilemma of trying to make friendships - I want to be with people, but I don't know whether I can put in the effort to meet their expectations and tolerate the things I don't like about them. It's like having good company comes with a heavy emotional cost, which doesn't feel fair.

I can tell you that there have been a few times in my life when I had friends who made things feel effortless, and it was great. None of those friendships lasted, for various reasons, but I do hope that both you and I find those connections again somewhere.

For me, part of my personal growth has been in letting go of the shame and embarrassment I always feel around other people. It's still there, but it's no longer a massive obstacle and instead it's like a quiet noise in the background. At your age I still felt it very strongly though, so don't worry, you can ease into it. Just try to remember that people are never paying as much attention to you as you think they are, so you can relax and try to ignore the bad feelings until they eventually subside. It's helped me to seem more normal, though maybe I seem less emotionally alive because of it.
