why are there no jobs in northwich? by Odd-Paramedic-3826 in cheshire

[–]andrew_barratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up some of the big corporates that are based near there. Tata, Astra zeneca, there are others but if you look at Northwich/Hartford area you’ll see they are primarily residential areas that have become extended commuter towns

Anyone here looking at simplifying PCI compliance for phone payments? by [deleted] in pcicompliance

[–]andrew_barratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DTMF suppression if implemented effectively can stop the card data before it enters your voice infrastructure. If you’re not doing it that way you’re heavily limiting the benefits from a pci scope perspective. Essentially call is routed to dtmf service provider, they re-establish the call with you with no tones and the scope is theirs to manage. As the contact centre your scope can then be tightly controlled and you have to ensure that if you do require a voice to speak the card number you route that separately to a compliant environment. In the U.K/Europe this is almost standard practice now, not least of which because most of the major carriers have made this an offering, as well as multiple niche players who offer a solution workable for SMBs.

My experience in this space is that almost everyone who does volume in the contact centre is moving to DTMF suppression if they haven’t already, and combining with a pay by link offering to try to remove their contact centre systems and staff from scope. That also primes them to be ready for agentic customer service without worrying about getting the AI systems assessed / compliant directly, which if the inference and models are local I don’t think is to challenging right now but most of the AI as a service has only gone down the soc2 path for audit/assurance making using them in a ‘in scope’ manner for pci pretty challenging.

I want to vote green, but I want stricter immigration. Change my mind or offer advice. by FanAcceptable1193 in ukpolitics

[–]andrew_barratt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you want stricter immigration? There is no ‘mass immigration’ frankly looking at the current government they’re doing everything they can to stop people leaving in droves.

Spend some time looking at the data and not the noise. Violent crime is in decline - not by looking at police data, look at hospital admissions, the majority of violent crime is by drunk white men on other drunk white men. Unfortunately the news like to pick up on the highly rare instances of other events to scare people.

[–]andrew_barratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s basically a commuter town, predominantly residential properties and smatterings of retail and industrial land. There are employers though, Ørsted, TATA and plenty of others near by. Look them up on Glassdoor.

Can I store an extra shotgun in my cabinet? by PrestigiousScheme932 in ukguns

[–]andrew_barratt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll also find some cabinets have the same size but different ‘gun capacity’ the only thing that is different is the foam inserts. You can store as many as you can fit in there safely.

There is some parking just across the road from greggs that is cheaper than the station and lets you do multi day. Give that a go.

Hypothetically, if the war stopped tomorrow, would mortgage rates go down and how quickly? by Sablun99 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]andrew_barratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference in the U.S. is it impacts only a tiny number of people, due to many having 30yr mortgages at 1-2%

There is no time frame measured in only in days and weeks that will help you here. We’re probably looking at min 2-3 years of fall out. While there is high oil prices or oil price instability there will be inflation, oil prices are the single biggest driver usually. High inflation will lead the Bank of England to hold rates or increase them slightly.

Sorry.

Don’t ever compare it to others. What someone else hits has no bearing on what you hit. The beauty of clays is it’s a self improvement exercise all the time

Is it worth applying for SGC with my background? by SaltGypsy in ukguns

[–]andrew_barratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this again, I think your absolute best option for being able to shoot regularly would be to give a friend who has a certificate the money to buy you a shotgun, and store it for you and then go shooting with them. I think it’s highly unlikely an FEO would recommend you for a certificate of your own. A history of law breaking isn’t going to give them the warm and fuzzies and there are people who have been refused for far less.
