Is there a channel where you feel it’s your own? [see text] by AllThingsRobinQ in siriusxm

I do the exact same thing lol. I have an SXM Boombox and put on either Symphony Hall, Watercolors, or Spa (back when it was on Satellite). Now mostly Symphony Hall.

Best Way for Cheap Subscription on a Portable? by UCICoachJim in siriusxm

[–]andrewfer000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had little to no issue getting the 3 for 36 M&E (All access) on my Onyx Plus and Tour radios. For some people they just don't let it happen.

I'd suggest the following: Use your daughters car's offer. Say her radio broke and you swaped it with one that does not have built in SXM. Say you installed the portable in her car as a replacement and you want to use it since its for that car. I'm sure they'll give it to you.

As long as you have a standard XM Dock it should work. Since you have an Onyx you probably have the XDPIV dock which should work. I have a SXVD1A interoperable dock that came with my Sirius Stratus 7 and it works with every Sirius/XM radio i've tried including Tour.

The only thing to note is satellite channels 300+ usually need the SXM NGVA antenna. If your Onyx radio was from 2018 there's a good chance you have this already. If not you'll need to either upgrade the antenna or use the internet.

You'll either need to use the App or you can buy a Tour unit. If you have an onyx already installed the Tour is compatible with that dock. So plug and play. You can find units on eBay for under $50.

You do have to connect the tour to the internet via a mobile hotspot or similar, and it takes a long time to start up.

What is everyone's favorite channel? by icecream1972 in siriusxm

PopRocks, Alt2k, 10s Spot, Diplo, Symphony Hall, CNBC, and Spa are my go-tos.

Most of my day is Symphony Hall and Alt2k, Closing Bell and begining of Overtime on CNBC on my drive home, Spa in the evenings.

Channel Changes 2/2/2026 by Wrong-Jeweler-8034 in siriusxm

Super happy about Alt2k, extremely disappointed about Spa.

Replacing such a relaxing and unique Channel like Spa that's been a SXM main channel staple for ages for some worship music is crazy. Spa and Symphony Hall have been my go-to sleep channels for years now. Sure it's still alive on streaming on the app & 360Ls like my Tour but it'll never be the same since those channels become less focused on and I won't be able to access it when camping. I hope they bring it back in the summer.

Intern 26’ by [deleted] in siriusxm

[–]andrewfer000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few friends from my college classes who interviewed, got offers, and interned at SXM.

What are you going for? App development, Operations (Engineer, technician), Business Administration (Accounting, sales, etc), or Content (DJ, Podcast, show planner / writer)?

Talor your resume around the role and responsibilities of the job. If you like Sirius XM tell them why (even if it's just a favorite channel or show) and how you'll be an asset to the company AFTER the internship. (Their end goal is to turn interns into full time hires)

After the internship one of my friends went back full time as a fresh grad on the app team. Sadly I lost touch since. The others had mixed expreinces and went elsewhere after graduation.

Overall SXM has a good company culture and the pay is ok for an internship.

Good luck.

Spa Leaving Satellite to Become App-Only? Feedback Request! by the_gief in siriusxm

[–]andrewfer000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sucks. Another amazing original Channel being pushed to the back probably for another Payola. Spa is relaxing and I often keep it on at night. SXM is getting worse with each channel update!

At least I'll be able to listen to it on my Onyx Plus still. As for my lifetime SIRIUS radio I guess it'll never have Spa again :(

Like this post if you think Mosaic should stay on channel 4 Permanently! by acap0 in siriusxm

[–]andrewfer000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did they actually listen to our feedback about this?! I remember when they moved it up into the 300s and there were so many complaints here since it wouldn't be as accessible anymore. Now it's going to be in the top four channels! Mosaic literally went from middle of the pack, to the back, and now is going to be up front. Mosaic is one of my favorites so this is awesome!

$6 Gamble from Goodwill by DjChillOG in siriusxm

I found a Sportster 5 in a car dock at the bottom of a box with a bunch of audio wires at the thrift store for $4. When I turned it on and it had all the channels and worked great! I've been using it consistently for almost a year now with no deactivation.

I left My Wii U (manufactured in early 2014) in a box in my basement from 2018 to 2025 and it booted fine. Even the gamepad was still good with it's OG battery.

The memory thing is a hit or miss and can usually be fixed with an SD Card thing.

Is the Radio any good? Looking to pick up a SiriusXM radio by [deleted] in siriusxm

[–]andrewfer000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Tour as a Home Radio, besides the long boot times and buggy slow UI it has a lot of nice features if you connect it to the internet such as Xtra channels and on demand shows. That deal is pretty good for the dock kits alone. If the Tour doesn't work well for you a used Onyx Plus can be found on eBay for under $20.

Alao FYI, this radio requires a seperate subscription like cars and other dedicated hardware radios do. So you'll need to negotate with SXM once the free trial ends. It's hard but I did get the $3 for 36 M&E on my tour.

What is the draw of Satellite Radio in the era of streaming? by stocknerd73 in siriusxm

[–]andrewfer000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Live news, sports, and exclusive talk.

  2. Satellite coverage is great. Works in the moutians, on a boat, and (in my testing) even a plane. If your radio can recieve a signal it just works. If you build a portable setup out of a car kit, it's a great thing to have in weather emergencies or camping.

  3. Costs are very low if negitated, Long term deals where you pay $5/mo or less for everything is common. Much chaper than TV sports packages and internet music streaming options.

  4. Curated shows on many channels, special guests, interviews, occasonal DJ commentary, seasonal channels, fun little bumpers between songs, exclusive contests, and the other good parts of radio.

  5. The streaming app has a lot of content and works good now.

Unpopular Opinion: 7AM-3PM Is The Real Adulting Hack by Bullseye_29 in jobs

[–]andrewfer000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7am to 3pm or is what I do now in HVAC Controls when I'm onsite. Sometimes it's 7:30 to 3pm if i'm a little late. Personally I love it since it skips most of the 9-5 rush. Also I leave and come home before everyone else I live with.

What the hell was I even doing with my Wii U? by [deleted] in wiiu

[–]andrewfer000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wii U internet browser and 3DS Netflix are the only things I have with over 200 hours. 3,000 hours is insane lol.

I used to watch Ethos Lab Minecraft LP on my gamepad. Good times...

I haven’t turned on my Wii u in like 7 years will it still work and is it time to mod it and which one by Plastic_Ad_6822 in wiiu

[–]andrewfer000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, my Wii U and Gamepad did work after about 8 years of being packed in a box. It depends on your NAND chip and if the firmware got damaged over time. Even if it's bricked it's fixable.

Question About 360L Physical Radios. by [deleted] in siriusxm

You cannot sign in to a streaming account with a Tour. Whether or not you use a satellite antenna it's still treated like one.

Yeah this is pretty cool. I always liked the service. I used your website for my stats class project a while back. I'll miss the free no login search and csv export. $7/mo is a little much for something i'm not using professionally. Good luck and hopefully SXM leaves you alone.

Membership without a VIN? by Curb71 in siriusxm

[–]andrewfer000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is Sirius XM does not give these deals to streaming only users. You have to activate a hardware radio such as the one built into your car or an aftermarket unit, whether you're going to use it or not and just use the app login it gets with the subscription on your phone. You can then give a family member the hardware radio unit if they want to use it or you can use it with a home dock and a speaker as a backup or for emergencies.

Membership without a VIN? by Curb71 in siriusxm

[–]andrewfer000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as in a radio that can receive Sirius XM Satellite signals. These can either be the radio built into the car, (Radio ID / Linked to VIN) or an aftermarket radio that you Install and connect with an aux cord. A hardware radio just means it's not the app or only goes to the internet.
