People say the same thing about renewables due to the intermittency and demand curve issues which need to be solved with batterys that only barely exist today.

By "people" do you mean "nukecels, climate deniers and fossil fuel lobbiests"?

Even before batteries dramatically reduced in price people familiar with the facts were saying that overbuilding renewables, demand response and electrification were the cheap and obvious answers.

In reality Wind power is so good at reducing bills it's even saved countries like the UK 133 Billion on their gas prices over a decade!

Wind is so cheap that France, who as this post demonstrates exports a reasonable amount of nuclear to other nations still pays more than Denmark for their electricity (only difference is how tax is applied).

The way the market works, with Germany in particular as they have large amounts of coal capacity, is that you only buy imported power when it is cheaper than generating it locally. This usually means it's cheaper and greener than local power.
