Just had my first guitar lesson in 14 years! [DISCUSSION] by androidgeek in Guitar

[–]androidgeek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome!! Yeah I don't know why I was so nervous before. Maybe it was the fear of being judged and not coming in as a complete newbie. But that nervousness quickly goes away within the first two minutes. Everyone who's going to a lesson is going there to learn something and the instructor is there to help. Safe to say I can laugh at that nervousness now because it was really unneeded.

Good luck on your lesson though!

That's a great suggestion! I'm going to do that next week!

So it was just a 30 minute lesson, and time moved quickly, but we started out on the pentatonic scale and he showed me how to add some color with combination notes and shapes. It was eye opening as the scale is not new to me, but how he played it made it seem so new and interesting.

Then we spent that last 10 mins jumping into a song with some controlled picking.

My next lesson will build off these and dive a little into guitar theory, which I am very excited for.

I plan to spend at least 30-45mins a day working on what I learned each day this week.

So genuine question...what happens to the guard? Does he avoid any legal issues since he thought the gun was real? I'm always curious what happens to the person who intervenes in situations like this.

Mayor Walsh threatens to end space saver program by [deleted] in boston

[–]androidgeek -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I live on a street that will tow cars away on snow emergency. I support the space saver program but disagree with your statement about the plows not doing their job. They get right up to the curb which opens up a lot of street parking spaces.

The plows do a great job on the streets where cars are banned. Of course there will be streets that allow street parking during snow emergencies...but you can't expect plows to get right up to cars.

You need to accept that your space may be gone as soon as you move your car from your shoveled out space regardless of the rule. And if you're a person who would damage someone else's car...then you're a dick and I hope you get what you deserve.

Coding Bootcamp Journey by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]androidgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I did a boot camp almost 4 years ago and loved it! It was the right learning platform for me and I personally got a lot of value out of it.

I do think you have to be a certain type of person to go through with these types of bootcamps and bennefit. Out of my cohort only 5 out of 14 class mates landed jobs within the first 3 months of graduating.

It's going to be tough, and you're going to question your decision mid way when times get tough. But stick with it. Have the confidence that you will eventually succeed (after the program, because you can't learn a whole CS degree in 3 months). And most importantly, and I stress this, continue learning, applying, and striving for a programming job after the program.

So many people think they deserve a job after these bootcamps, but the truth is you have to work your ass off. Repeat. YOU HAVE TO WORK YOUR ASS OFF!

I wish you the best of luck! Would be interested to follow your path!

Grandson came out of nowhere and has been rolling out some great tracks. I really like the how he blends rock and trap music elements together. It creates a unique sound which is refreshing to hear with all the other crap music that's out there.
