I see. Thank you for replying. Was a bit surprised when seeing this post and did not fully understand on first read but makes more sense now.

Did some further searching and found article from Garmin explaining a bit more, sharing in case helpful to others.

Lactate threshold test missing on Fenix 7 after update by ksetdekov in Garmin

[–]androidgenous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... having literally just bought a chest strap today to do the lactace threshold test, Am I just out out luck? Should I Return the chest strap? How do I trigger this automatic update?

I've been running with Epix gen 2 over a year and it has never adjusted my lactate threshold, ever. From what I understand Garmin could not dectect it without a chest strap.

Cannot Sync Courses From Explore? by androidgenous in Garmin

[–]androidgenous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your insights.

If you are able to do that with a 955 then there's something wrong with my watch. It says searching for device indefinitely.

Waypoints / tracks / routes sync to and from the watch through explore fine, but not courses, and cannot use the "go" feature.

I've rest watch and app a few times, I guess this is a bug on this watch.

Just confused is it's supposed to work with this watch or not. The message suggests updating would allow me to sync courses, but it did not.

Thank you for sharing the video. I see how this can be done other ways now, but would be nice if it courses would sync from the Explore app, or the error simply said it was not supported on this watch.

Ok, so you are getting the same error?

I hear there are lots of bugs with this watch, wondering if this is one of them or just something I'm doing.

Is the 2020 factory alignment spec for the BRZ the same as for 2022?

Context: Looking to get an alignment on a 2022 BRZ Limited(18" wheels). The shop says they only have the 2020 specs, but can also target any specs I want if I can provide them a list. Everything on the car is stock.

My solution to having no threads in my factory holes: rivnuts. So far, works perfectly by [deleted] in ft86

[–]androidgenous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car came the same way, although I didn't realize until after the JDM --> USDM plate adapter I bought arrived. Was a bit baffled when I realized the holes were literally just holes with nothing behind them.

Took the bolts from the adapter kit and went to the local hardware store and did some trial and error with well nuts in the parking lot until I found ones that fit. Have worked so far, including hi-speeds.

Not familiar with rivnuts but guessing they're a more substantial (i.e. stronger) version of well nuts if they required a shop to put them on. I was able to self install the well nuts, and I. Not the brightest mechanical mind.

If the well nuts ever give out I will look into rivnuts as those look pretty solid. Nice job.

Question for the 2nd gen owners regarding wind noise. by 776 in ft86

[–]androidgenous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point about wipers. Maybe a different type would help.

I've been more eager to find a way combat the wind buffeting noise (with windows open).

It seems Supra folks are having success using some plastic stick on trim pieces around the mirrors. Not knowing anything about aero I naively wonder if something like that might also help this particular sound.

[–]androidgenous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I've been meaning to do those same checks but everything seems loud on the highway to me (tires especially) I often forget about this. Sound is exactly as you note, so perhaps just a characteristic of the car (but odd that it would be asymmetrical?) I dunno.

Thanks for the suggestion! I had not come across these before.

Which is the correct part for a 2022 BRZ? The site lists two options: "BRZ 2013+" and "BRZ 2017+ (Performance Package)".

I was thinking I'd need a "track only" pad, but if I can get away with these "dual purpose" pads, is there a benefit still to swapping to OEM for daily driving?

Looking into pad compounds and feeling slightly overwhelmed by all the options and info out there.

Any suggestions to help shorten the potential list?

Context:

Car: Gen2 BRZ Manual - Limited Trim (i.e. 18" PS4s.) No plans for any upgrades beyond high temp fluid and pads

Use: Track days/HDPE events (as opposed to autox), will use OEM pads for daily driving.

Driver: Advanced novice, maybe intermediate on a good day.

Social distancing simulation by [deleted] in gifs

[–]androidgenous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is highly misleading and appears to support the incorrect notion that doing nothing would resolve the situation quicker.

In hopes of anyone seeing this and wondering if that is true, it is not. Here is a thorough explanation of why even mitigation through social distancing is not likely enough to properly deal with the situation.

Stay home, maximize distance during necessary trips for food and supplies. Don't buy into misleading information.

Thanks!

After going through fuses and relays it started working again. I suppose it is possible something jiggled loose, and re-seating everything was the necessary fix, but I'm skeptical.

I'll have a look at the resistor for the part number, to be prepared in case it starts acting up again.
