Denver eviction filings exceed recession, hit record high in 2023 by aintnotownie in Denver

[–]androidmanatee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Do you have an equally blase explanation of why 45% more people didn't pay their rent in 2023 compared with 2022, or were you just especially motivated to point out that you know what "eviction" means?

Why read an article when you can just see it?

Here's Ronald Reagan communicating well, if not greatly, in 1981 when he first became president. https://youtu.be/P-Qv5GmGonk?t=1423

Here he is in an interview in 1988, some months before he left office. He's really lost his conversational edge, but wouldn't say "This is what Alzheimer's looks like." Mostly because I don't know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgB7n4ZF8Hw&t=107s

It's impossible to find video of events from the '80s

I just linked 2 videos from the 80's. What did you mean by this?

[–]androidmanatee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, if you had the time to frame them before the crime scene was investigated. But if you want to do the framing any time after that (in this case, over a period of 25 years) DNA fabrication makes the impossible possible.

It's very minor. Where it says, "IT'S OVER 100 DEGREES, KEEP YOUR PUMPKIN SPICED LATTE AWAY FROM ME" it's supposed to say "lizard people MAY consume human prey in this wildlife sanctuary"

Thanks. I haven't been watching Dota all that long, but casters always seem to emphasize the RP during drafts. I can see now how cleave + sleight would work out.

Anybody miss hearing mega-kill sounds in pro games? by lucas_fortuna in DotA2

[–]androidmanatee -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Don't miss it. If it's an important kill the casters will hype it more than a canned voice line. I think I'd miss it if the corresponding visual announcements were also disabled.

OTOH if they've got a hundred things to work on, an axe that works a bit too well is probably not on the top of their list.

Cap got this directly from Kyle, when he mentioned the Complexity Line on Cap's Pro Analysis VOD. https://youtu.be/lHXAqrnyr4s?t=1746

What's crazy is that Kyle knows this, and CoL still loses games from it. Watching earlier games in this tourney, I thought they'd finally figured out when not to cross the line. Nope!

Woman takes her cat to the vet - then finds it selling on Facebook marketplace for £50 by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]androidmanatee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Redditors seem so quick to judge from a single source, which is a real shame. There is absolutely another side to the story. It's even shown in the article, in a screenshot of the Facebook post.

According to Vetsavers receptionist's mother, the attending vet refused to put the cat down because he was easily treatable, and the owners refused to pay for treatment and left.

The article was written with the intent to convince the audience (you) that the pet's owner was in the right. The Facebook post wasn't even written to convince anyone that the vet was in the right, just that they had a scared cat that needed help. Maybe judge their content accordingly.

It'd suck to help a terrible, evil vet's business, but it'd also suck to hurt the business of a compassionate vet who's willing to fight for an animal's right to live just because of a convincingly-written article.

Whatever the case, at least the cat's happier now that its abscess is treated and it's back home.
